Wrap slings - hot??

I didn't get on with one when DS was born, but this time round I would really like to find a sling that works for me & new baby - last time I tried a couple of wraps, one that was like a Moby (perhaps it was), and one that was 2 tubes of stretchy material.

My question is, once you get used to wearing them, are they not incredibly hot with all that fabric wrapped around you? I just read that the Moby is 5.5m long! I wonder if I might feel a bit claustrophobic in them.

I admit by sling wearing does tend to reduce in the summer, I don't do heat very well! You can get shorter slings though so there is less fabric, you can do carries which have fewer layers over the baby and you can get slings in different fabrics such as gauze or solar weaves.

The Mobi is brilliant. Nothing better than walking about with your baby snoozing on you all snuggly, yum.

Thanks. My baby is due next month, so we would be going into winter, but I remember getting v hot when bfing (am I right, it was nearly 4 yrs ago now?). And the places I would be wearing it to - eg. DS music class, etc are likely to be in warm rooms. But perhaps I could just wear less and take a cardigan which would go over the top if I get cold. I will check out the lighter one too.

I just wish there wasn't so much choice!

Thanks! I've been thinking though - unless I am just going for a little walk from the house, I will be driving everywhere, then getting DS and the new baby out of the car. Does it take very long to get used to doing a wrap sling very quickly?

I have just thought - presumably I put the wrap on in the house in the morning and then leave it on? Then just adjust as necessary.

Well, dilemma is over as my friend gave me a Kari Me sling today! So I am not going to buy one unless I don't get on with it at all. So I'll have my BabyBjorn and the Kari Me - should be enough to get on with. I have gone off anything on one shoulder actually, because DS was a big, heavy baby - always above the 90% percentile, and as I'm having another boy, I expect he'll be the same - I think they would hurt my shoulder.

So I will be digging out some teddies to practice with the Kari Me! Thanks for your help.
