I've got a huge 98th centile baby - at 20 wks she weighs 18.5 lbs and my poor back can't cope with carrrying her on my front for much longer. My stretchy wraps are getting a bit saggy with her weight (I've got moby and sa-be).

I need a wrap I can safely use on my back and will support my chubster for a while yet. I've also got a solarweave connecta for back carries, but really liked my stretchy wraps because of how comfy they are.

I'm also really rather poor at the moment - anyone got any tips for where to find a cheap woven wrap to try, either second hand or new - not bothered!
thanks x

The best place I can think of is here

You will have to register as a member but you can buy anything from the FSOT (for sale or trade) board immediately. And you can post an ISO (in search of) request too.

If you want to sell anything you will have to have 30 posts and 30 days' membership.

Brands worth looking at and that don't cost much, especially secondhand, include Storchenwiege (Storch), Neobulle and Hoppediz (Hopp). And, if you buy secondhand, they can usually be sold on for as much as they cost you.

Ask for a Hoppediz, Girasol or Storchenweige on UKbabywearingSWAP. It is a Yahoo group where mums buy and sell wraps second hand. You ought to pay £30 - £45 for a 4.7m or 5.2m one. You can probably also sell your stretchy for about £20 on there too (or on MN).

I think that the baby is hurting your back because the stretchy is not supporting her properly anymore.

I can carry a 24 lb toddler on my front for 2+ hrs at a time comfortably even though I still have hip problems from SPD from pregnancy.

I asked this on the board that Moomin's linked to. The mums there also recommended BBslen wraps - they're about the same price as Hoppediz wraps, and both are apparently very supportive for heavier babies / toddlers.
