Tips/advice for losing more than 10 stone through SW online?

I cannot get to an in-person group, so I was contemplating joining SW online. Since being prescribed an antipsychotic and antidepressant, my weight has just kept on increasing and now I am morbidly obese. I'm still on the medication. I travel for work a lot which makes preparing healthy home cooked meals even more difficult. I cannot afford to start using weight loss injections. Feel trapped, so desperate for any advice or success stories.

I think if you travel a lot and presumably are in hotel rooms, you might find SW hard to follow. My memory of it is that you’ll eat best if you’re making home cooked goods. They do have a lot of ready meals now but if you don’t have access to a microwave, that’ll be difficult too.

I’m on weight loss jabs now but in the past had success with Weight Watchers which is mostly calorie counting. If you’re eating in restaurants, you should be able to find low calorie meals.

Calorie counting or Weight Watchers wouldn't work as there's no way of knowing what ingredients were used and how many calories are in the meal while travelling. Maybe there's no way forward.

@AnxiousApocalypse , it can be done with SW, if you can commit

There's a zillion easy recipes online which are free or Swip'd for you

I find it easy to batch cook and make up meals in old take out cartons to heat when at work

SW is really easy tbh. It works on the premise that no food is not allowed but best results come from home cooking and avoiding the UPFs

So make a lasagne from scratch using 5% meat, its free - you dont have to weigh or measure, buy a ready made one, there will be swips ( syns ) and you are only allowed a certain amount of swips a day

Buy a sandwich from a supermarket - swips are used, fill a warburtons wholemeal pitta - its free

The basics are all veg and most fruit is free - eat as much as you like

Lean meat - no visable fat and 5% mince - free - eat what you like

Grains and beans - free

Pasta and potatoes ( plain ) free - but only eat till full

You also have a dairy allowance, a fibre allowance and now a healthy fat

Im a drinker, so I use my swips on that so to allow for that I home cook and eat from the free foods.

I miss out on not a lot tbh . I have always home cooked so I know how to make a free food Chinese or Indian. I make kebabs, fish and chips - even have chip/cheese and curry sauce when the mood takes me

My normal day - when there is a normal day - is yoghurt ( greek - free ) and frozen berries and if really hungry a sliced banana or pear, and raw oats. Really filling. Just throw in a pot the night before - ready to go in the morning

Lunch would be warburtons protein thin ( free ) topped with loads of salad and pickles and protein - or a wholemeal Pitta stuffed with the same

Dinner would be the typical family dinner - a roast - ( air fryer and spray oil on the spuds ) loads of veg , fish pie, spaghetti Bol, curry, - whatever, I just pile half the plate with veg and eat away

Ive been working shifts on and off since Ive been on SW and I manage because I plan ahead . A pot of soup does 3 or four lunches, a good stew - 3 or 4 dinners, making sure Ive greek yoghurt, hard boiled eggs and lean sandwich meats in the fridge , along with piles of salad and a lot of frozen veg in the freezer

You can do this. It takes commitment. It took me 6 months to get to target and Ive stayed within target for two years now I eat loads, Im not ever hungry enough that Im reaching for instant gratification from the biscuit barrell because I have made the changes I need to stop me. There's some foods I cant have in the house because if I start I cant stop , and there are days when I go completely off plan , but mostly I now eat a healthy balanced diet

I haven’t used weight watchers for a while but last time i did there was a barcode scanner in the app which showed you how many points.
same with calorie counting, there is an app called nutracheck and it has things like mcdonalds in there and restaurant chains so if you are eating on the go that might be easier for you than slimming world.

These days restaurants have to show the calorie count in the menu, don’t they? Having said that, I’ve managed to follow a Slimming World diet when away from home just by following the rules. It’s fairly easy to swerve the obvious things you shouldn’t have, like booze, cakes, pastries, biscuits etc. Since eggs, lean bacon, baked beans and tomato are “free” foods, i.e don’t need to be measured, you can have all of them for breakfast, but get the eggs poached rather than fried, and skip the sausage and hash browns. Avocado on wholemeal toast with a poached egg, or porridge and bran based cereals fit in with the plan, but watch the quantities. For lunch and dinner you can have plain grilled fish/meat with salad and/or veg. Skip the chips, and don’t slather butter/dressings on. When you are at home and can control exactly what is in your meals, stick to the plan as best you can, and use minimum swips/syns; you’re not supposed to save them up, but I did. That way, any slip ups when away from home balance out and you’ll still lose weight. I did!
