Advice needed! Should I become a Consultant???

Hi All

I am just wondering if there are any slimming world consultants here - past or present - that can give me some truthful information?

I am a current group member and have not a lot of weight following slimming world and I have just been approached with an opportunity to become a consultant?

I work 4 days a week and I have two young children 3.5 and 14m but life is fairly flexible and the opportunity for a side hustle and to earn more money is not to be sniffed at!

However from a quick google it seems like you're expected to invest a lot of time and money for not much reward. I'm not expecting to make thousands but I'm not sure I would be interested if I'm earning less than minimum wage when it all balances out!

Please let me know your thoughts - good and bad!

Thanks xx

I was consultant and it is hard work. They expect you to leaflet drop quite regularly, attend staff meetings as well as all the classes stuff plus training up in Derbyshire. Can be reasonable money if you have large classes though.

I went to an information event about it once. I can see why women who run one or two groups leave, there's next to no money in it and a lot of work to do outside of group hours. There is some economy of scale for those who run several groups a week.

I found it very telling that they (certainly used to) get women who were interested to bring their male partners along because they would be the ones asking questions about reasonably expected earnings and expenses. I think a lot of women get into it because they love the idea of being a consultant, without assessing it with a business hat on.

We have a couple of consultants nearby

Mine is loaded, husband is loaded, she really does it as she really does want to help people. She works full time and runs 4 meetings a week - two back to back, midweek and saturdays and she can not be making money as most in my meeting are target members as are the majority of one of the midweek ones

The other one, runs meetings nearly every day, in my local town and in four or five villages and the next big town, One of her meetings starts at 7am

I dont think you are going to make money, pin money perhaps, if you have a full time job but I dont think you will earn enough to switch to doing just that
