@YouHoooo &@Phos what your both failing to understand is that for people with sugar or food addictions it does work.

The low syn yoghurts on plan are generally not the ultra processed yoghurts - it's things like natural yoghurts and Skyr.

If you have an in healthy relationship with food then you start by making healthy swaps like slimming world encourage not cutting huge volumes for the diet.
It's like you don't ask a heroine addict to just stop. They are put on methadone first.
As you loose the weight you do then have to start cutting things out and learn how to develop a healthier relationship with food as time goes on. But it isn't an instant process.

The sw consultant should have said that's great not having a chocolate bar but that is what your syns are there for.
Better having one Muller light with speed food like some fruit.
Sounds like perhaps a poor or a rushed consultant.

That's really good advice. I think I get disheartened when others get those huge losses and I'm a pound a week sort, but it's the long game isn't it

A lb a week is 4 stone in a year

For me if really worked when I stuck to plan and my head was rejoin the game. I lost 3 stone on plan in a relatively short space of time. I need to go back really but my head needs to be ready.

What worked for me was always having something syn free ready to go. So there was no temptation to have something I shouldn't.

I always had boiled eggs in the fridge
I had plenty of syn free yoghurt
I had cooked mince and veg ready to go.
I had watermelon cut up and ready
Etc etc

I was a huge disbeliever before I tried it. It does work when you are on plan. It's not about eating as much as you want. It's about eating the right type of food and not eating lots of highly processed crap.

The yoghurt scenario above works not because of the calories but because 4 yoghurts fills you up. A chocolate bar doesn't. So yes whilst the chocolate might be lower in calories it can for a lot of us with trigger is to eat more once the sugar hit starts to wear off. So One chocolate bar could easily lead to 3 more. So actually it becomes a far greater number of calories!

This doesn't make sense to me. Those Muller lights are very sweet and include are very processed they don't fill you up either and I would feel a lot fuller after having a mars bar than 4 Muller lights and who can/would 4 mars bars in a row?

I lost over 3 stones on SW, but never had the sort of huge weekly weight losses that some people seem to get. I often wondered if those who lose say 8lb in week one have REALLY lost fat or perhaps wear different clothes/lose retained water etc. For me it was about being slow and steady.

I found that I did have to watch the amount of carb heavy 'free' food that I consumed. I know that the idea is 1/3 of the plate 'speed' food but I could quite easily eat a huge amount of veg to match a huge portion of pasta/rice. For those foods I did consider calories too. I also tried to avoid the ultra processed sweet foods (even if low syn) because I found that eating those just made me want the 'real thing' even more. Using the example above of the muller light yoghurts- I would have consumed the yoghurts but found that it was not quite the sugar hit that I craved so I would probably have caved and eaten the chocolate as well. I think it's all about finding what works for you, not just slavishly following 'the plan'

I’m more in the slow & steady camp especially now I’m nearing target but if I ever want a boost (or have a big night out/weekend away off plan) I add a couple of SP days midweek and make myself a big batch of ‘speed soup’ which is basically lots of veg, lentils, beans herbs - blitz a small portion to thicken and eat this for lunch and save small portions for between meals if you get hungry
I don’t eat many sw cheats like muller light, sugar free jelly etc as I find them synthetic tasting and they don’t help re-educating your appetite/palate so I’ve learned to fruit, veg and protein in between meals.

I have lost 12lbs in 10 weeks on SW and I'm post menopause with 'only' 2 stone to lose, so I am not expecting the 3-5lbs per week that others may have. I was already active, vegetarian and alcohol-free, so I didn't have as much scope as some to improve my food and lifestyle choices.

My typical day is:
0% Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast, or overnight oats with berries
Quinoa salad with lots of chopped up salad veg, plus a protein source (tofu, chickpeas or edamame) and fruit for lunch
DInner - something like jacket with beans, vegetarian sausages with veg and air fried wedges (homemade), more salad, pasta with soy mince or meatballs and loads of veg. Plus a small chocolate bar such as multipack Fudge finger or Milky Way for 5 syns.

I also have a Starbucks hot chocolate addiction and there's a drive thru at the end of my street....! But I use the soy milk as Hex A (they use the Alpro no sugar one) and count the chocolate as 4 syns.

I eat breakfast and lunch at work so they have to be cold and easy to eat at my desk. I consistently have 8-12 syns/day. As Clare always says on the podcast, 'enjoy your food', and I do!

Last time I attended slimming world meetings, our consultant was really clear that if you are not losing, then you need to look at what you are eating (food diary) and change your menu if what you are currently eating isn't working for you personally . And just because some foods are said to be 'free' this doesn't mean you can eat them until you are bursting. And some people will need to reduce portion sizes. She was also very clear about the third of a plate of the super-free fruits and veg. This is not an option but a bit part of how SW helps to reduce the calories of what you are eating.

So ... 4 yogurts in a sitting, some people may be able to get away with this, but many won't . And it's not a very sensible way to eat . A big dish of raspberries with one yogurt is more filling, as is the thick Greek yogurt rather than the runny muller lights .
