Anyone with a stone to lose?
Millicent2022 · 13/04/2022 23:52
Hi all,
Started DIY this week. Loving it so far. Does anyone have a stone to lose like me?
Xx
cakedelights · 14/04/2022 00:10
I've started doing intermittent fasting then when I eat I tend to follow skimming world recipes

Thai is gonna be my approach I think once I adjust to sw way of eating
I haven been really baffling with trying to eat Keto (it got so much hardier now am perimeno) and it’s been resulting in me bingeing a lot (
So for now am really focused on eating according to the principles
And wow haven’t felt urge to binge more than like once , and managed to not do it !
How are you all doing ? Fancy a little support ongoing thread ? X
woolypollie · 14/04/2022 00:39
Yea an ongoing support thread would be good! My problem is I'm sooooo good during the day! It's just at evenings when kids are in bed and I'm bored... the wine comes out and then the cheeky crisps, chocolates (and maybe take away - if dh is with me)

Same ! So good in day then slippery slope at night ! However, the syn approach seems to help me , have had either a glass of red wine or small bar dairy milk without it triggering worse! I think because have stuffed myself so full of veg fruit protein all day am actually not starving myself for first time in ages !

I used to do intermittent fasting and kept my weight stable for many years. I got ill in the first lockdown and now have digestive issues and a stone to lose.
I can't go long without snacking and I crave sugar and want breakfast and late night snacks. I never used to get hungry till noon or later.

Hello guys,
How interesting to see different diet methods.
I originally joined slimming world because I piled on weight from medication & studying long hours for my degree I neglected myself! I did find SW overwhelming & difficult to follow at 1st but take ur time with it. The basic principle behind SW is taking out fat, butter, oil & replacing it for spray oils or water or even just tiny amount of oil or butter. The recipes are fresh and have no hidden sugar or fat like processed foods. This is why u lose weight on it, in general I only eat fresh foods anyway so i found it easier.
However, I have a huge huge and I mean mega problem with sweet cravings so fasting helps reduce blood sugar. I also removed cups of tea cos it makes me crave biscuits or cakes so I drink black coffee as it increases the metabolism & eases hunger pangs. I only drink diluted water with juice which I add fresh lemon & ginger to it as it acts like a natural fat burner. I promise it works ! Also I fast 3 times a week from 8 in evening til 3 in afternoon because ur also asleep when fasting !
Please feel free to ask any questions but remember everyone is different so it's about finding the right diet for u to be able to stay consistent. I tried all sorts of methods even wrapping my stomach in cling film

Sorry if there is any spelling errors, I have dyslexia too as well as sweet tooth cravings
Millicent2022 · 14/04/2022 12:06
@cakedelights and @nyfluff hi both ! Yes totally get avoiding spiking insulin! I really do t know why I can’t keto like I used to but I am feeling great now on day 6 of SW (no processed carbs for me tho).
Just knowing I can have something to eat if am o hungry seems to have really calmed my body down !!! I was in a bad cycle before so am really grateful .
Will try and incorporate some fasts when am adjusted - still concerned it may trigger binge mentality !! Think I am safer on three meals plus snacks if need them for now. This is totally the opposite of how I have been eating for a decade (keto, rarely eating till lunch but then bingeing on anything and everything each evening ! Inc alcohol) that’s been happening since I turned about 47 (peri?)
Anyway - I’m feeling energised with so many lovely vegetables and can’t get over being able to eat oats and fruit !!!

Thank u for your above message hun.
You seem to really be enjoying your diet so that is the key thing so that it st

Sorry that message was sent accidentally unfinished!
Stick with what your comfort with, fasting isn't suited for all, I previously struggled with it because I wasn't drinking enough fluids but the trick is to drink diluted orange flavour drink which helps massively. If u are eating a lot as in regularly it's hard to fast too. I don't eat as much now so it's fine for me. Whatever rocks your boat u stick to that, I wish I could eat more veg like u as it's so important when dieting.

Do you know it’s only in last couple of years when have trying to fast like 18/6 that I get triggered . Before that, keto used to suit me so well. Think you’re right and it doesn’t suit everyone ? I mean , I’ve never been a breakfast person so would usually just have coffee with cream in the morning but now am having porridge or a green smoothie for eg. More energy def !
