Slimming World Whilst Pregnant Support

Hi everyone

SW 13.1
CW 11.10
GW 11.0....may have to put this on pause for a while

I've been doing slimming world since first week in January and have lost 1st 5lbs....never got this far into my journey before. I've recently discovered I am pregnant with no3. No2 was a late loss in Nov 2021 and I put on quite a bit of weight in the months that followed. No3 is only 5+4 gestation.

I searched for support threads for other women who follow slimming world whilst pregnant but could only find one from 2010!

Whilst I'm not bothered about losing weight whilst pregnant, my growing baby is my goal...I don't want to pile on a load of weight. I still haven't lost from my 5yr olds pregnancy lol

Anyone want to join me? I do go to group, but not telling my consultant until confirmed by Gp etc

Hi congratulations and sorry for your previous loss 💞

I'm not pregnant and no plans to be but previously did sw in a previous pregnancy, all weight I put on was just baby and placenta etc as a week after birth I weighed less than at conception.

This was a while ago but I think you have extra a and b choices, best to check with your consultant.

So sorry for your loss.

So far as I'm aware, Slimming World is the only weight loss programme that the NHS recommend for use during pregnancy. Though I believe the intention of following the Slimming World programme during pregnancy is to prevent you gaining weight and NOT to lose weight! My hospital certainly had information available about Slimming World for obese expectant mothers. Make sure to have a chat to your midwife at your booking in appointment to see if it is a sensible approach to take for you.

Thanks for the reply ladies. I know with my last pregnancy part of my checkups were by phone and she asked how my diet was. I told her that although not following slimming world at that time that my meals tended to be very slimming world based and she said it was ok to follow slimming world when pregnant. Like I'd love to just be the same weight post partum as I started 😂 baby is more important that getting skinny...but if i did lose a little i would be delighted too. Im still overweight now. I think a "healthy" bmi is too light for me...the upper end is only 10st 10

I know what you mean about BMI. The maximum I should be according to my BMI is around 9 stone. I haven't been that since my early twenties pre children! Currently 13stone 5. Have set target for 11-6 then will reassess.

Come on over to the daily menu's thread if you want some ideas etc and chat

Hello!
So great to see this thread, I've been searching for SW in pregnancy too and noticed how old all the posts are.

I will definitely join you!

I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and from about 6 weeks onwards I've had horrendous nausea and exhaustion. I had a solid beige diet but yesterday and today seem to be feeling a bit better so hoping this is the end of it and I can start to reintroduce some fruit and veggies again!

This is baby #2 for me. I gained about 3 stone with my first pregnancy and still had 1 stone to go when I found out I was pregnant again in early Feb. So really keen to minimise weight gain this time!!

I weighed yesterday and by some miraculous miracle had only gained a few lb over the last few months so want to try and keep a handle on it.

I messaged a few SW consultants this morning about joining a group on Sat morning but equally don't really want to pay to watch the numbers go up... If there was enough support on here I don't think I'd need to.

I was thinking of posting my daily food diary at the end of the day as a way to make me accountable. I found that really helpful when I lost weight the last time and I found when others did it, I got some good ideas/inspo!

Yesterday's grub:
B - 40g porridge, blueberries, 75ml SS milk, tea
L - ham and egg salad, 30g cheddar, fat free dressing (0.5)
D - sweet and sour chicken (5), rice, M&S mini choc roll (5)
Snacks - coffee w/milk, ginger biscuit (6), yogurt, orange x 2
HExAs - 1 x cheese, 1 x milk
HExB - 40g oats
Syns total = 16.5, whoops, a couple more than hoped but first day!

Today so far (and plan for later)
B - 35g fruit and fibre, 75ml SS milk, tea, berries
L - jacket potato (1 for oil), beans, 30g cheese
D - pasta bolognese, parmesan, salad
Snacks - banana, cereal bar (5), tea, watermelon, kit kat (5.5)
HExAs - 1 x cheese, 0.5 x milk, 0.5 x parmesan
HExB - fruit and fibre
Syns = 11.5

I should say that I don't have SW online so i'm guessing syns by using google etc so stuff could be wrong. I think you're allowed additional hex's too but again I'm not sure??

TTCIrishlass · 05/04/2022 16:32

That seems a great start. Unfortunately im no longer pregnant, but still following plan and will do if i get pregnant again. Unsure of extra healthy extras as i never told my consultant. But i think its extra a's for calcium and so you maintain rather than lose/gain. As its not restricted eating it is endorsed by midwifes and deemed safe to follow :)

Rule of thumb for syns, if it has no free value such as chocolate, sweets, crisps then 1 syn is 20kcals. Hope that makes sense.

Try to eat right! Because if you eat too little in the process of losing weight, it will affect your health. You and I will try together! uno online
