Ideas for no hexb breakfasts

I am finding sticking to one hex b a day difficult. Can I have some ideas for breakfasts where no hex b is used please? Preferably no syns either! Thank you. 🥚

What do you use your HEB on? I only ask as this is the one I always struggle to use Confused. I have a slice of small wholemeal bread with eggs of some descriptions most days which is half a HEB leaving another one for either something like an alpen/hi fi bar (you can have 2 so again 1 bar is half) or a ryevita if I want a bigger snack than fruit. I tend to avoid cereal as you need the full HEB in one measly portion!

Anyway back to what you asked Grin
Eggs are your breakfast friend:

Omelette with various veg/protein additions

Fry-up : mushrooms, beans, egg, lean bacon etc

Spinach topped with scrambled eggs and a grilled tomato

Smoked salmon, asparagus and poached egg

Courgette and parmesan (HEA/syn) fritters/hash browns with a poached egg

Non egg ideas: ff yogurt with banana and blueberries (get the frozen ones as they are cheaper and have lovely juice when you defrost) and a tspn of maple syrup (0.5)
I sometimes add a spoon of granola and just count the syns (2)

As you can see I like eggs Grin

Thank you for all the ideas. I usually have either toast or cereal of some description. Today I had egg bacon and baked beans (no bread). The bread I buy usually uses a hex b for 1 slice. Then I struggle with what to have for lunch if I've used by b.

I'm going to try getting back to yogurt and berries/banana now the weather is better.

Ah see I rarely have bread for lunch - lots of soup, jacket potatoes and dinner leftovers but then I do work from home so have access to fridge microwave cooker etc which I appreciate isn't going to work for everybody. The 2 slice HEB bread is quite thin but as you get 2 slices might be worth trying.

Wilma55 · 21/03/2022 17:42

@lechatnoir I'm retired so I do have access to microwave etc. It never occurs to me to have potato for lunch, though I suppose I could when having rice or pasta in the evening. I might try a week of no hex b for breakfast and see how I get on. Thanks again for all the suggestions, I will have to stock up on a few things just for me and leave oh to his own bread etc!

I have been looking through a couple of books and it's amazing how many breakfast ideas that do use hexb. Didn't realise so.

I agree about eggs. Think they are a good idea and of course your favourite fruit and yogurt.

If I have a full works breakfast I tend to have bacon with an egg either scrambled or fried. A potato chopped into cubes in garlic frylight and hoops for 0.5 syn. Also because I don't like mushrooms or tomatoes I will have a couple of satsumas or an apple on the side for some speed.

I saw also a pancake recipe in one of the books. Think the Happy Days where it doesn't use a hexb.

Sidisawetlettuce · 24/03/2022 14:48

I sometimes consider returning to SW but couldn't manage with just one HEB. SW should bring back Red and Green day's and 2 HEBs!

Wilma55 · 24/03/2022 15:25

I've just had a quick look at the breakfast recipes on the app. I think I need to embrace potatoes for breakfast! How do people get on with the tinned ones?

I’m recently converted to sweet omelette/egg wrap. Just add a bit of sweetener and/or vanilla essence and fill with yoghurt and fruit. Somebody else suggested wrapping a banana. You could then add syrup or choc shot for a couple of syns if you wish.

MaeveKerrigan · 25/03/2022 09:46

This thread has made me realise why I gave up SW. Wrapping a banana in an omelette (albeit a sweet one Confused ) and considering tinned potatoes at breakfast.

TTCIrishlass · 25/03/2022 12:40

I love kvarg low fat protein pots 1/2 syn with strawberries etc

HairyScaryMonster · 25/03/2022 13:10

I've been having noodles or rice or potatoes as my carb at lunch to allow me to have oats or toast at breakfast.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 28/03/2022 15:42

I'm also looking for ideas.

Porridge is.my usual breakfast but of course that's a hex b.

If I'm having a home day especially on a weekend I will skip breakfast and have an earlier but bigger brunch. Favourite at the moment is a sort of veg hash with an egg cooked in the middle. I roast a load of butternut squash and occasionally sweet potato and it keeps in the fridge for a few days. Fry with any other veg eg courgettes mushrooms, tinned potato or chicken sausages and then crack an egg in the middle and pop a lid on. Delicious!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 28/03/2022 15:44

Also like @eeyoredebbie said an egg wrap. I havent tried a sweet one (are they the same as savoury ones @eeyoredebbie)

I make an egg wrap then fill with oven baked Linda McCartney sausages which are free, mushrooms, spinach, occasionally a hash brown and a bit of brown sauce.

eeyoredebbie · 28/03/2022 16:52

YEs a sweet egg wrap just add sweetener and or essence/flavourings to the egg mix - you can then make a wrap or an omelette depending on size of pan/number of eggs. I did see a recipe on Pinch of Nom where you separate the eggs and whip up for a more fluffy omelette thing but can never be bothered 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/04/2022 13:39

Fruit snd yog

Omelette

Fried egg bacon sausage beans

DelurkingLawyer · 01/05/2022 11:39

Posh baked beans, adapted from a Joe Wicks recipe:

tin cannellini beans drained
tin chopped toms
(both full size cans)
tbsp W sauce
tbsp tomato puree no oil
2 tsp honey
2 tsp Dijon mustard
between 1 and 2 level tsp smoked paprika (depending how old the jar of paprika is and how hot you like it!)
Optional: tin mushrooms drained or 150g button mushrooms, halved

Put in a saucepan and simmer gently till toms are cooked and the sauce is nice and thick. Makes 2 servings, 1.5 syns per serving.

I serve with two poached eggs, and today also added 2 grilled lean rashers back bacon. Really nice, and cheap, and easy to batch cook. Also I think a lot better than regular baked beans because there’s more veg in there.

DelurkingLawyer · 01/05/2022 11:41

PS Joe adds six (!) chopped up sausages to this but having counted how many syns this adds, the mystery of why I was losing no weight on his diet is solved….!!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 01/05/2022 11:59

That beany recipe sounds absolutely amazing @DelurkingLawyer thanks for that will add that to my ideas list. You could maybe add some of those heck chicken sausages or Lidl do a good copy too I think they are both 0.5 or 1 syn each we eat them alot 😂

Maybe could use butter beans aswell? Come and join us over on the daily menu's thread if you like!

DelurkingLawyer · 01/05/2022 12:17

Thanks @Plantsandpuddlesuits I will do that - have just discovered the SW boards after deciding I needed to get back on the wagon with 5st to lose (sob).

I reckon you could use any canned beans you had in the house.

I’ve found JW recipes nice and not too time consuming. His refuel (higher carb) recipes, which are restricted on his plan to after a workout, seem to be pretty much SW compliant and lots of them are not dependent on bread as the carb. The low carb ones are unsurprisingly bread free but they seem to be much higher in fat so you have to adapt (remove the chorizo etc!).

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/05/2022 16:33

I've started following a healthy eating woman on FB. She was saying that sometimes for breakfast she has couscous, and puts fruit in it. Sounded pretty good to me.

ivykaty44 · 02/05/2022 18:31

ive brought chicken thighs and roasted them, skin off and leave to go cold, then make a salad of finely chopped vegetables - sweetcorn, tomato, cucumber, red pepper, half an onion, half a mango, coriander - squeeze over lime, lemon, a few chilli flakes and mix. This will last in the fridge for 3/4 days and eat with the chicken thighs for lunch.or I roast of about three sweet potato, mush with chickpeas and a few spices - cumin, paprika, garlic and make into burger shapes and bake in the oven, serve with poached eggs, a good serving of salad leaves and tomato (its a great Brunch or breakfast) I found the recipe on TikTok under so vegan sweet potato patties) I bake in oven rather than fry in oil

breakfast I tend to have either porridge and mixed berries from the freezer department if I'm going to the gym/workout. Or yogurt and banana, or third of a melon and strawberries, or hard boiled eggs and a banana if on the move

Viviennemary · 02/05/2022 18:36

Just use your syns to have the extra healthy b. But if you have a good amount of weight to lose you should get away with having two or even three healthy b's.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 04/05/2022 16:46

Rice pudding can be a good none hex b option. I do mine in the slow cooker with almond or coconut milk as you get alot more for your hex a than dairy milk. I do enough for a few days at once

ivykaty44 · 04/05/2022 21:51

www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/food/recipes/a32208164/spiced-rice-pudding/. this recipe is amazing, but I half the sugar and butter and ditch the vanilla, use soya milk instead. I think I worked out the calories to be 600 for the entire pudding and then divided into 4 portions

Macaroni1924 · 28/05/2022 21:19

Is an egg wrap essentially a thin omelette? I need to try this, haven’t heard of this one!
