Miller and Carter syns

bellabride · 22/02/2022 12:16

I'm going to a Miller and Carter for lunch next week, and I don't want to have too many syns.
I've looked at the menu, and it doesn't look very SW friendly!
Can anyone give me any tips for low syn choices there?

I would have steak + salad, no dessert!
Maybe allow 1tbsp of oil for cooking the steak (6 syns) otherwise the steak itself would be free as long as you cut off any fat.
If you want sauce just have it on the side, and get the salad dressing on the side.

I have just checked Wetherspoons* and a bowl of chips is 21 - maybe share chips with someone else and use your syns for them if you really want them.. just eat free food and healthy A+B for your meals the rest of the day.

*I know Miller and Carter is nothing like Wetherspoons!!! Just trying to get an idea Smile

I now want to go there :D

Skip dessert but you need to have the lettuce in blue cheese sauce, it's amazing! (And healthy, it's salad! Grin)

The blue cheese sauce is amazing, but i would imagine is full of syns!

The portions at M&C are huge. But the benefit to you is that everything is served side by side, the steak sauce is in a pot, but the wedge sauce is poured on. I would eat the steak, salad (aka wedge, just a slice of iceberg) without dressing and the grilled tomato. Leave the chips and the onions because they are deep fat fried. Ask for wedge and steak sauces in a pot so you don't have to eat it all.

Oh and the steak comes with a knob of butter on top that they add after cooking. You might want to ask them not to do that.

I know SW isn't about calories but mfp has some listed which might help...

This food all sounds delicious. I don’t mind ordering a lower sun option, but if the food is there on the plate or as a side, I wouldn’t have it in me to just leave it!

Me neither!

If you’re going there, just have what you want for that meal.
It’s not the place to count calories and you’re likely to suck the pleasure out of the meal if you try.

I kind of agree with this.. but I've managed to succeed on Slimming World (where all other diets have failed) by learning to love eating food that is also good for me, so enjoying a lovely steak where I previously would have had a blow-out with a couple of sides and a massive dessert too. I don't mean being totally miserable and never enjoying food, but if I decide I am just going to eat everything in sight I just "pig out" and then find it difficult to go back to a sensible way of eating afterwards.

That said, I totally agree - don't pick something that you won't enjoy just for the sake of your diet, as that definitely will make the meal a miserable experience.

Have a fab time OP!
