Target member food plan - what differs?

How does the slimming world plan change once you're at target? The plan is designed so you loose weight so how do you stop losing weight?
I'm a long way off yet but I'd like to know ahead.
Thanks!

You have to work out your average weekly weight loss for the last eight weeks leading up to hitting target and that will determine what extras you get. It will involve more Healthy Extras each day and a certain number of days in the week when you can allow yourself extra syns. You'll get a book which explains everything once you hit target. There's an informative video on YouTube by Nikki Ryan which might be worth a look.

This is useful to know, thanks. I find the syns more restricting than the actual food plan iuswim, and it would be nice to think I could have a piece of cake with a coffee once a week, at Costa or somewhere, without completely blowing syn budget.

The latest SW podcast is about what happens once hit target

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/01/2022 10:44

Wilma, I'm just trying a podcast this morning. I need to get over the odd presenting style. I know it's done in someone's kitchen (well, the one I'm trying is) but the presenting is just a bit too 'try hard and talk in a sing songy way I wouldn't normally' for me. How did you get over that, or is it just me? Grin

Wilma55 · 25/01/2022 11:05

Hi @SpongeBobJudgeyPants I know what you mean, one of them is particularly sing songey! I just grin and bear (bare?) it. I think they are a bit too long as well but we don't get much input at group so find them useful for a motivational boost now and again.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/01/2022 11:21

Glad it's not just me, lol. I think I need to rise above it, to get the benefit. I feel like that at group a bit sometimes, when it's time to clap for Ethel who has lost a pound. I don't find it motivating when people clap for me, just embarassing, but I wasn't given the option to opt out of it, so it seems a little churlish to mention it, as otherwise my leader is good, and much better than the last one. Why do you not get much imput in Group? The SW leader's fault, or other members taking up all the time?

Wilma55 · 25/01/2022 12:07

We have a trainee leader and I just don't find her convincing. I'm probably going to change groups to one the area manager does. She does split it up though so awards, a few weights, topic, weights, topic, weights, sow, raffle! I think you can opt out of the weight bit, I posted a screenshot on another thread about it.

Its in FAQ

Target member food plan - what differs?
SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/01/2022 12:23

I saw that, but she doesn't seem to take that on board. I can suffer it for the sake of harmony.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/01/2022 12:24

Although it looks like it has to come from me opting out, rather than opting in. I also don't like setting a goal for the following week. Any loss is good news for me personally.

Wilma55 · 25/01/2022 17:14

We don't get asked to set a goal very often (except on app) If I do I just say a pound. I would rather be weighed in by consultant then could chat re any issues. The "social team" just take the money and weigh in. The consultant just spends time with new members. WW was better where you could choose for lead or helper to weigh you and new members stayed behind at the end.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/01/2022 17:39

Yes, I'm not overly keen on anyone but the Leader weighing, or knowing my weight. Even DH doesn't know my weight!

Wilma55 · 29/01/2022 13:53

I'm now 1.5 lb off my initial goal. I would really like another 7lb off after that but wondering on least expensive way to do it! Once I get to goal I think it's free till/unless I go 3 lb under. Could I get to 3 under then say I want to reset goal to the lower amount and start repaying? The FAQ didn't make it clear (to me anyway) I could use up some holiday weeks too I suppose as I generally pay weekly.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/01/2022 14:36

My understanding is that you could do that Wilma. Unless someone else knows differently?

LittleDoritt · 30/01/2022 22:13

@Wilma55 once you have reached target if you want to change it then it has to be by at least 7lbs - so it sounds like it would work for you. Someone I know at group got caught out by setting her target just a smidgen too high and wanted to change it by 5lbs but wasn't allowed Hmm She's stuck going out of the target range every couple of weeks but not wanting to actually drop as low as half a stone down.

Wilma55 · 01/02/2022 18:57

Thanks @SpongeBobJudgeyPants and @LittleDoritt. I mustn't count my chickens! This is where I wish the consultant did the weigh in so I could have a chat with her without making a special point of it.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/02/2022 08:14

I think I felt I understood more about it having listened to the podcast. The mention of an extra Hex B was interesting. I've still got my 10% as my interim target. Nearly there, but a long way off my eventual target!

picklemewalnuts · 03/02/2022 08:32

Ooh, good thread! I'm at target at the moment. I have a lot I could lose, but have decided to give myself and my body a break and learn how to maintain.

I'm finding it hard, to be honest. Basically I'm currently not following the maintenance plan, so much as following the usual plan and having days/meals off! The end result is maintenance. It probably does fall into the plan- the occasional additional HEB, and an extra 20 syns one day a week. But not in an actively calculated way!

picklemewalnuts · 03/02/2022 08:34

@Wilma55 have you got her phone number? Pop her a text asking for a chat. She might offer to chat with you at the group, or after the group, or she might ring you.

Wilma55 · 03/02/2022 09:00

Thanks Spongebob and Pickle. An extra B would be most welcome! I kind of feel trying to get away with not paying (as in my earlier post) is a bit dishonest. Also if I get the target certificate, maintenance stuff etc and a couple of weeks later change target seems a bit off. Good suggestion to message for a chat. I need to get another 1.5 off yet anyway and I really do need a couple of holiday weeks.

Wilma55 · 03/02/2022 09:03

@picklemewalnuts I found from previous WW experience that once I got to goal (target) despite saying I would keep weighing in at meetings, I just went my own way and put it back on. Sounds like what you're doing is working though. Are you going to meetings?

picklemewalnuts · 03/02/2022 09:13

I am going to keep going more or less forever I think. I mustn't put weight back on, I'm 53, it's do or die time!

I've lost almost 6 stone, but could lose a couple more and still be overweight. I'm a size 14/16, and look healthy, so could happily stay like this. It depends how this year goes, if I decide to have another push. I'm mainly interested in staying active and healthy, getting stronger and fitter. If losing weight turns out to be part of that then great. If not, well I'm happy as I am.

My target is perhaps 3lb higher than I'd like it to be, and if I can get to the bottom of the zone and stay there, I'll ask if I can adjust it slightly down- it does say it can be 'tweaked' with in consultation with the consultant.

And there's nothing wrong with getting to the bottom of the zone before setting a new target. They just want to prevent people moving their target by a lb a week and getting lower and lower without ever paying!
