What do you like about SW? I'm thinking of joining

I used to be a Target member many moons ago and then stopped going to my SW group. 3 stone of the 8 I lost has gone back on so I think I need to rejoin as I cannot lose weight without group support. When I did it before, I did the Green plan and never followed EE. I know that the maintenance plan for target members has been vastly improved since I was there so I'm hoping that if/when I reach target again I will find it easier to maintain. Please give me some positives about SW! Smile

It encourages me to cook from scratch and plan ahead. I find that I enjoy food more and after a couple of weeks I feel more energetic too.

When I went there was no green plan. But I liked it because it made me eat more veg. I definitely ate healthier when I did it than other things I've done.

I almost stop eating any processed food when on SW except for a yogurt, cheese and now and again some bread

41sunnydays · 17/10/2021 09:03

And not having to weigh food !

GettingLardy · 17/10/2021 09:42

Some good points, thanks! I think what concerns me would be having just one HEB instead of 2.

Slimming world is cack. Stay away! Absolute eating disorder material

GettingLardy · 17/10/2021 09:46

Can you elaborate a bit more, @rjackmiss ?

I prefer two HexB as I always use one for the milk in my tea so now I don't have to syn if I have some cheese or milk for my cereal.

I agree @41sunnydays about the processed food. I hardly eat any, only bread sometimes and Greek yoghurt.

Somebodylikeyew · 17/10/2021 10:30

I think ANY diet plan can be used to eat in a disordered way tbh, if people want it too.

Bottom line is always going to be eat fresh, real food in some sort of moderation. Bonus points for water and exercise, consistency is key. If groups help with accountability then great, just make sure at some point you work out how you’re going to live without them.

But that doesn’t sell books or membership.

You make a good point, Somebodylikeyew If you need group support to lose weight, then you will need it to maintain. I suppose the good thing about SW is that target members can attend for free. I live in an area where there are lots of groups to choose from. It's not like WW where many groups have closed down.
