Slimming World
Going SW alone :)
bingsulaflop · 07/06/2021 10:08
Hello all,
Just a little support that's all as I'm going Slimming World from home (cost purposes and just can't find a spare evening to go with DS after nursery activities etc)
Looking for your favourite breakfast, lunches, tea meals and snacks and also any tips?!
I have done it before but always looking for fresh ideas
TIA!

Hi, can I join you for the journey? I'm doing SW alone this time round although was a member after my first DS was born. It worked amazingly and I'm hoping for the same again. My second DS is 6 months now and I really need to shift some weight.
Am hoping to lose 3.5 stone by Christmas.
Food wise I keep things simple for breakfast and lunch (eg 2 slices of nimble + egg or bacon medallions for breakfast and salad and leans meats for lunch or baked potatoes and cottage cheese.) and enjoy a bigger evening meal. There are so many lovely recipes out there.
Some of our favourites are:

Pinch of Nom used to do loads that we used but don't think they are allowed to use the term SW anymore for some reason.
How much are you hoping to lose? Good luck.

Hello!!
Of course you can! Congratulations on your DS!
I'm hoping to lose two stone to take me back to my (happy weight) and a weight that most of my clothes fit me still
I would love to lose more but don't want to make it unrealistic and will decide once I'm at my goal weight if I should lower it or not
Foreverbaffled · 07/06/2021 15:21
Absolutely! It has to be realistic. Keep me posted on how you're doing

Hi both, I keep toying with the idea of slimming world but it doesn't make sense to me. How are you finding it?
SummerBreeze1980 · 10/06/2021 16:15
I signed up to Slimming World online last week and lost 6lb so really pleased. I have a lot to lose, though. A combination of being in hospital/psychiatric meds/low thyroid means I am now 16st 5 when my normal weight is 8st 7 -9st (I"m 5' 3"). My initial goal is to get down to 15st but I'll be excited to get down to 16st 1 as that means I will no longer be morbidly obese!
@Raindancer411 - I found it took a while to get around it but now it makes a lot of sense. It is a way of eating a small enough amount of calories that you lose weight without having to measure and calorie count everything. Is there anything specific that doesn't make sense?
Raindancer411 · 10/06/2021 16:53
@SummerBreeze1980 Just the whole thing lol I will sit down with the book again and see if I can make sense and then be prepared for the quiz 😂

@Raindancer411
It's essentially just low fat with some degree of portion control (you're meant to have 1/3 of your plate as free foods like veggies etc). In my experience it doesn't work as well for women that have some degree of insulin resistance (eg mainly apple shapes, pcos, post menopausal etc) who tend to fare better with low carb. Slimming World is the opposite really and is all about the carbs (but low fat) which I love and am lucky works for me.

I've been doing SW online for 3 months and just signed up for another 6 months (still a long way to target). Works better for me than trying to fit classes around the kids/husband's schedules.
Breakfast I usually have fruit and fat free yoghurt or cereal (healthy extra B) with milk (heA) and fruit. At weekends I might have baked oats (Pinch of Nom recipe).
Lunch is either leftovers from the night before, homemade soup, salad, or a baked potato. Sometimes cheese on toast (if I haven't used my heB at breakfast) or a pizza made with a flatbread or pitta for the base.
I love that you don't need to count carbs because my family love pasta, so we have pasta at least a couple of nights a week, stir fries, curry, chilli con carne, cottage pie. Last night my husband and kids were having hotdogs, so I did myself a couple of skinny sausages in a wholemeal bun and cooked a big tray of SW chips and salad for us all.
Snacks - lots of fruit, Skinny Crunch bars (get mine from Home Bargains), Fibre One bars (or the Lidl/Aldi equivalents).

Can I join in please?
I originally joined sw about 5 years ago and lost 2.5 stone but found going to the class very boring if I'm honest!
I'm feeling really bloated at the moment and have put on a stone since I stopped going to group
I'm deciding whether to join up online to get the use of the app or whether it's so able to just use the books? I do have the new books from last summer when I tried the zoom classes but gave you after 2 weeks as it was even worse than in person!!
I have a family holiday booked for mid October and would be so much happier if I could lose 1 or 1.5 stone
I am very overweight and am so fed up of feeling bloated, frumpy and unhealthy
My aim is to start on Monday as with the kids at I will be able to spend a bit of time doing a meal plan and pop to asda/Aldi if needed
I'd love a supportive and honest group to share ideas and for a bit of accountability
I really need to do this for my health and stop messing about!

What are people's fave and easy meals? I am not very adventurous so no strange ingredients in the cupboard of shell foods.
