Thinking of starting slimming world

Hello after a rough two years of having my first (and only by this rate child) I have put on three stone since she was born. Paragraph

I once was a savoury person but since she's been born she has been the worst sleep ever. And I'm not just talking a couple of times a night this has led to chronic sleep deprivation and mental health issues.

Before and my daughter I was running and a slim 10 stone in weight. Now because I'm chronically sleep deprived and have no energy to do any exercise and making bad choices reaching for sweet foods.

I have recently lost my mum as well which hasn't helped but all these excuses but I can't get back on track as I was before.

Someone has recommended slimming world to me and I've always avoided it because I didn't want to pay to lose weight but now I feel I'm at my peak fatness and it's starting to really upset me.

Does slimming world work when you have a two-year-old do you have to cook separate meals is it very costly and has people found it easy to stick to.

Any advice or experiences would be grateful

Sorry to hear about your mum.

My 4 year old was a terrible sleeper until about 6 months ago, so I know what that’s like (and I’d thought his older brother was bad, haha).

There’s no need to cook separate meals, a lot of the recipes on their website are family friendly or you can adapt your own. My kids have been enjoying what I’ve made the last couple of weeks - pasta bake, chilli, fish pie have all gone down well. I do sometimes cook them something else if we’re having something they won’t eat (a hot curry for example), but I was doing that before anyway. I would say our shopping bill has gone up a little because I’m buying more fresh fruit and veg, but it will probably balance out because I’m cutting down on other things.

Do a search for discount codes before you sign up (if you decide to), I found one for £15 off a 3 month online membership.

It agrees with some people, it’s too carb focused for me, I would have a look at weight watchers, slimming world and second nature and see what appeals to you the most

So sorry to hear this I know when I lack sleep I reach for the bad stuff but I had my little on in November ( put on 4 stone - don't ask Blushlockdown and I found a cupcake lady who I ordered from way too much) but since joining in January I've gone from 15st8 to 13st3 lost 2 stone 5 pound and although I'm not to my 11 stone target it really helps me be accountable and I've found yeah I can have some naughty treats but I plan them for when little one goes down and maybe have a hot chocolate as a reward, especially as I'm an overwater it just means I can eat so much more sensibly, the meals can be sometimes time consuming depending what you choose but then I go and get back up slimming world freezer meals for those days I really can't be bothered and feel lazy! I hope you figure it out but it was the best decision I made Smile

As PP said it works for some.

It changed my life to be honest. I am the slimmest I've ever been and kept it off. I follow the 80/20 rule of 80% of the time I'm "on plan"

I also run 2 - 3 times a week.

I've always done it online not gone to a class. The app lets you scan barcodes now which is easier.

Good luck.

I did SW 8 years ago when dd was a year old - she didn’t sleep for more than 2 hours until she was 3.3!! It worked for me, I lost 2 stone. I didn’t go crazy with the “free” pasta and rice and walked miles and miles with a double buggy. Definitely do-able if it suits you. The meals are very adaptable.

Sorry a bit late but yes it does work with a child because you don't need to cook separate meals. I have a 4 year old and 1 year old and we all eat slimming world meals, because they're just based on meat and veg so suitable for kids too. For example this week we have had chicken, potato and veg bake, spaghetti bolognese, curry, roast dinner, Spanish omelette etc. All perfectly fine for kids
