I'm currently struggling to loose my baby weight, at nearly 10 stone! I've heard great things about slimming world but is it easy to follow? Is it expensive? And does it work

It does work if you stick to it.
Plus points-
You're never hungry
Nothing is banned but obviously some stuff is restricted portions
Healthy way to lose weight

Down sides-
You have to be organised and meal plan
It takes a a couple of weeks to get your head round the plan
You need to be happy to cook (and there are a few ready meals but they are horrible)

People always say they promote unhealthy stuff like hifi bars and muller lights but at the end of the day it's down to you what you put in your mouth.

I think SW works for some people but you really have to stick to it.

I lost 2 stone and have kept it off even though I don't go anymore but stick to the principles of SW.

I do agree with a PP that they do promote some unhealthy foods like muller light, but also encourage cooking fresh foods from scratch.

It is time consuming sometimes so planning what you want to eat (and calculating how long it will take) during the week really helps. This avoids me 'cheating' when I've had a long day at work and can't be bothered to cook a curry so call in a takeaway.

Well I lost over 3 stone on it in 7 months just doing it from home, I then maintained for a year by simply sticking to the basics. I very joined a group 2 weeks ago to get my final stone off and already lost 6.5 lbs. So yes it works. I still drink at the weekend and I find it easy when eating out. Lots of people say it's a diet and they never work but in all honesty I think they are the ones that think it's going to be a magic cure for overeating.
Its simple, if you dont stick to it, it wont work and if you dont change your eating habits during the process of loosing yes of course you will put it all back on again.
Basically the principles are.
Unlimited pasta, rice , potatoes, lean meat/fish These are your free foods that should make up 2 3rds of each meal.
Each meal should also contain at least 1/3 of super free so fruit/veg.
You get a healthy b choice (bread/cereal/nuts) these are fibrous foods that has to be measured daily.
You get 2 healthy a choices (cheese or milk) this is your calcium rich food and again has to be measured daily.
You then get a daily syn limit for everything else.
The pros are you will never be hungry
The cons are you cant just wing it, it's all about planning.
But in all honesty it was not thinking about what I was eating and going for lazy choices that resulted me in becoming overweight anyway so I guess theres your answer.

If you join online only can you change later to a venue, or vice versa? I'm thinking of going to groups but would change to online if I didnt like it.
