Has anyone actually lost and kept it off with sw?

I have a number of friends who have done sw and have done for years, seemingly losing the same 5 lbs over and over. Does anyone actually find it successful?

@Groovee well done- that transformation is amazing and you look so much younger!

It’s now believed if you can stay at your new weight for two years, your body stops trying to desperately claw back to your old normal. Hopefully weight loss programmes make that clear - that the job is not done until you’ve been at target for 2 years...

When losing weight you need something you can stick at for many years. Not a diet but lifestyle. I've never done SW but I assume it's not something you'd want to do for years so probably slip back in to old habits. After dieting for 30 years 16/8 is the only things that I've been able to do for years and keep the weight off. I never feel deprived, don't have to weigh foods, eat low fat, reduce carbs nor count calories. I feel great on it and will do it for the rest of my life. Just maintaining now and feel like I eat loads

If SW & WW worked long term the companies wouldn’t have a business model.

I lost about 3 stone, although I wasn't that heavy to begin with, bmi I was overweight now I'm in the low end of the healthy category, I've kept it off, although I do know once you've hit your target weight you're meant to keep going (it's free) and they do adapt your diet for target members

I only know people who’ve kept it off! I know several people who used to be huge and are now size 10 and have been for about 6 years. That’s why I’m doing SW myself!

I know why I put on weight and it’s through eating too many treats daily, I have a fast metabolism and should be bigger than I am by rights so I figure if I don’t return to that when it’s lost then I should be ok.

I know a few who have lost significant amounts of weight and kept it off for years, including one lady who lost 11 stone in 2012 and has maintained since then.

3 1/2 stone lost over 2 years at target and still in target range. From larger 18 to small 12

If you think of it as a diet then of course you will regain the weight - diets by their nature are temporary changes and your previous eating habits were what lead to weight issues in the first place.

you'll only keep weight off by accepting that you need to change the way that you eat for ever.

You need to find a wight loss/maintenance programme that suits you and that you can still to longer term.

SW is relatively simple really
Lean meat
lots of veg - at least 1/3 of every plate -preferably 1/2
lots of raw fruit
an allocation of dairy for calcium
an allocation of complex carbs for fibre
sensible amount of carbs to fill you up - but take into account the portion size with veg going on the plate first
limited processed foods, fats and sugars - capped at 300 calories per day

Most of us experiment around the carb proportions as we've found that as you get older unless you do lots of exercise we tend to be able to tolerate fewer carbs and still maintain/lose weight

Once in maintenance you flex your portions and occasional treats to see where your personal limits are. I'm older and lazier so mine aren't hugely increased but I can afford to have a more relaxed Saturday and enjoy a takeaway or an extra G&T and still have a maintain week
If I need to tighten my belt the treats are the things that go. I still enjoy quite large meals as I like big portions,
Biggest change is that I pretty much always cooked from scratch now
