Smoothies

I've been doing SW since February and I really enjoy it but something that's always bugged me is that smoothies aren't allowed but soups are. Apperently it's because blended fruit won't fill you for as long as eating the actual fruit but when I spoke to a consultant ( a dr not a SW one) she said that's a myth and there's actually a study on it to say actually blended fills you up for longer so I really want to start making smoothies but then would I technically not be following SW 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

All I can suggest is try it, and carry on perfect with everything else - if you find you're not losing as much after a few weeks of using smoothies, ditch the smoothies for a couple weeks and see if your losses up again - it's all trial and error with our bodies and losing weight Smile

You'll eat much more fruit much more quickly thus increasing your calorie uptake and your weight losses will slow down

So, if you imagine your stomach like a mesh, and what goes straight though it (smoothie, either veg or fruit) you digest pretty quick. If you have say, a chunky vegetable soup it will take longer to digest/get broken down and therefore leave you feeling fuller for longer. If you have a veg smoothie, no problem because there's so few sugars or calories. If you're having fruit smoothies, then you have to factor in all the natural sugars, plus the fact that it won't leave you full for long, hence it's better to stick to soup. That's my understanding of it anyway! I guess if you have a fruit smoothie, but stick a load of veg in, then that is a different matter - it just depends what the composition is.
