Festival

I'm going to a festival in a couple of weeks and I need some advice on sticking to plan. They've changed the rules so you can only take in a small bag (no bigger than a piece of a4 paper) so can't take a cool bag or anything like that. I can take things like alpen bars for my healthy extra b, and obviously things I can syn, but not sure what to do about meals. I really don't want to come off plan if it can be helped. Any advice?

Pasta /rice pots? You'll just need hot water some are really low in syns.

Are you just going for the day?
My best tip is to have the bestest hugest SW cooked breakfast before you go. I can get through a whole day on one of those!

I'm going for 3 days but coming home each night so a big breakfast is definitely an option!

Pasta/rice pots would work if vendors in the arena would be willing to give me hot water - would probably pay for it if they were super stingy.

Thanks both 🙂

Take lots of fruit and cereal bars.
The plan allows syns though- don’t forget to eat them!

Pasta stalls are commonplace at most festivals – opt for tomato-based sauces rather than creamy ones, and enjoy a sprinkling of cheese for your Healthy ‘a’ choice.
Jacket potatoes are a favourite – filling, warming and great with a variety of fillings. Opt for toppings such as beans, Quorn chilli or cottage cheese to keep the Syns low. If you’re at Latitude, look out for Funky Foods – a baked potato stall extraordinaire.
Pay the Chinese stall a visit for noodles with sweet and sour sauce, egg foo-yung, vegetable chow mein or vegetable fried rice. Hot and sour soups can also be a warming, low-Syn snack.
There are normally some fresh fruit salad stalls but they’re expensive.
As for the drinking try and take your own and measure before you go so you know how many syns are in it.

I'd totally forgot about jacket potatoes Blush

Luckily I'm driving so won't need to use syns for booze.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions 🙂

Most festivals don't allow you to take any food into the arena. Both our local festivals don't allow any food/drink to be taking in as part of their lisence.

I would eat what you want, enjoy it and deal with it the next week! Life is for living!

Chicken burger without a bun might be okay.

I had a massive syn free breakfast today! Made hash browns from pinch of nom book, fried eggs, Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary sausages, beans, spinach tomatoes and mushrooms! Can also add bacon and toast for HEB

Itellpeopletogoogleit · 09/06/2019 20:42

This one does allow food "for personal consumption" but they've changed the rules so you can only take a really small bag into the arena! I am contemplating just eating whatever and getting back on plan on Monday.

The Linda McCartney sausages are lovely aren't they? Lidl chicken chipolatas are only 1 syn each if you fancied a change. They're really yummy.
