Is it easy/worth going it alone as a complete newbie on Slimming World?

I’ve been sticking my head in the sand for quite a while after dd’s birth, and have found myself six stone heavier than the last time I looked!

I’ve looked online but I’d be too anxious to go to the group, and the price seems a bit steep for just online stuff.

I’ve found a huge bundle of Slimming World cookbooks, magazines etc. on eBay and I’m pretty tempted to get it.

Just wanted to ask if it would be too hard to do it on my own or have others managed?

Join Facebook SW groups?

sparklyfee · 13/10/2018 17:56

I did it. I went to one meeting, signed up for the books but didn't stay for the talk and never returned! I just followed the diet and used fbook groups for info.

Good luck

Thank you, think I’ll go for it.

I'd go to a group and get the books. That will give you the diet to follow. Then you can chat on here.

Walking in the very first time was hard. I hung in the doorway a little terrified of the whole hubbabub.
However the consultant or one of their helpers spotted me literally within the minute and invited me in and made me feel really welcome.
You have the chat, generally stay for the meeting then get weighed and added at the end.
I've gone back recently after falling off the bandwagon to a brand new group as I've moved, and it was a little terrifying. May have hung in the doorway again...
I do well though with the physical group, not necessarily the chatting but having a day and time I can't avoid or put off, and if I do know I may get a text from the consultant! Not in a cross way or anything. Just like "missed you this week, draw a line if you had a bad one!" Way.
Which is plenty guilt to keep me on track even if I'm literally cringing as I get on the scales.

I have signed up online and lost 7lbs in 3 weeks which is brilliant for me as i dont ever lose weight quickly. However i have been away on holiday for 2 weeks then away with work for a few days so i am dreading weighing myself on Monday.

Op if you go to your gp they can refer you for 3minths free

lovesugarfreejelly63 · 31/10/2018 06:28

Ivy - only if you are a certain weight do you get offered 3 months free, as I did not fit into that category I was refused by GP

ivykaty44 · 31/10/2018 06:36

Op says she has 6 stone to shed, wouldn’t that be enough to qualify?

lovesugarfreejelly63 · 31/10/2018 17:07

Ivy - most definitely.

I’ve lost 2 stone by doing SW at home,
Researched thoroughly online & started.
After a month I decided to go to one meeting using a magazine voucher. Reason was to get the books & intro talk to make sure I was doing it properly. Also Bought 2 cookbooks.
Never been back but just that one meeting did help me understand it all.

They have changed some food values so just check how up to date the bundle pack you’re thinking of buying.

And check magazines for any joining offers atm
Mine was 4.95 and I got the info pack with that.
