Things not listed as speed/protein

Okay, so I LOVE the Iceland thing on the website now where you can browse all the free food, but I am very disappointed to notice that the Iceland multi greens rice steam bags are not listed as speed on the app or the website. Sad

Why not? There's not even any actual rice. They are chopped up frozen kale, broccoli, courgette, spinach and seaweed. These things individually are speed, even when they are frozen, right? So why not in the green rice steam bags?

Having said that, I also notice that tinned chickpeas are not listed as protein. I'm confused. Surely surely tinned chickpeas count as protein when I'm doing an SP day...

I count the greens rice as speed. It's not affected my losses.

No idea about tinned chickpeas. I just presumed they were protein.

The way it's been explained to me is that things like cauliflower rice etc that are used to act like a 'non-speed' food don't count towards your 1/3 plate of speed food. The logic seems to be that the 1/3 plate speed food is to fill up your plate (and your stomach) so you naturally limit intake of higher Kcal foods so if you have veg mixed in with your protein/carbs or to act as carbs then it doesn't have the same impact.

Having said that, I truly can't understand why if I have a mound of caulflower rice (instead on actual rice) this doesn't do the same job as a cooked cauliflower. ie if I had a curry with no rice and a huge serving of cauliflower this would be fine. To my mind, as long as it doesn't make me hungry so I reach for snacks it should be OK

I'm sure it's just that branded foods aren't classified as S or P. If it only contains all speed or protein, it still is.

Ah MummytoCSJH that would make sense! I tend not to buy branded foods but this time around I'm trying to find 'easier' meals that can be alternative for reaching for the Just Eat app. Blush
