How the hell can this have a syn value?

I got the new SlimWell Beef Lasagna from Aldi which is fab. However, when I put it through the syn calculator it comes back at 4.5 syns! What I don't understand is the SW Beef Lasagna is free, but the SW version contains more calories and fat than the Aldi version?!

Same goes for Chicken Tikka Masala. The Aldi version is lower in calories and fat than the SW version. I have also noticed that Slimzone and SlimWell still isn't on the app....! I like SW but this is the part where they are beginning to take the piss. We pay enough to be members as it is, but to rip us off by getting us to pay £3 for their meals against £1.99 in Aldi, even though their meals contain more calories and fat is diabolical! I am classing the Beef Lasagna as "free" because of this reason!

Attached nutritional value "chicken tikka masala" between the SlimWell version and SW version!

Well I’ve lost almost 3st on Slimming World and kept it off so it does work! And no I don’t work for them.
Never ate a single mullerlight, just lots of the free healthy foods

Unfortunately what your saying is correct. It is endorsed by the NHS. Most doctors give overweight patients free vouchers to attend. I did read that SW pay the NHS for them to promote them.

That is really, really said if it's true. SW promote a load of chemically-laden processed shit.

It has been proven that the blood sugar / low glycaemic load diets work and these are recommended for people with type 2 diabetes. It would be a lot better for the NHS to recommend these to people rather than supporting an organisation that relies on its customers yo-yo dieting.

Slimming world being endorsed by the NHS is up there with it telling smokers to vape.

Christ.

I like slimming world. You don’t have to eat all the chemical laden things.

I just have lots of protein, salad, veg, the odd bit of carby food. I don’t drink milk either, so that was no great loss. I use my ‘syns’ for avocadoes, nuts, butter etc... it’s about using your common sense.

No one is saying to have 20 bowls of pasta because it’s a free food. All meals are advised to be served with a 3rd of the plate being filled with vegetables. And to just eat when you’re full. People do have to have some onus about the food they’re eating.

And yeah, you can have ready meals, but so what? If having low cal ready meals helps someone achieve a weight loss, then all is not lost.

I’ve lost 1 stone on slimming world the past 4 weeks, so it does work, and no, I haven’t downed 300 pots of mullerlight yoghurt!

What works for one may not for the other. You’ll always get people criticising other people and their diet choices, because it hasn’t worked for them, or they don’t agree with the principles of it.

SW may promote sweetners but it’s also possible to follow it without eating these. Fat free natural yoghurt, whole foods, chickpeas and beans, lentils, lean cuts of meat, wholemeal bread.
If you actually look at the plan you don’t have to eat any sweetener or any of the hi fi bars! Like I said, I’ve lost loads on it. I’ve tailored it to my tastes (ie no sweetener!)

Though it seems some on this thread actually don’t want to listen to these facts....
Anyway, I wouldn’t argue that even if having some sweetener and miller light on SW helps people achieve a healthy BMI, then their risk of heart disease and cancer is slashed, which can only be a good thing. Being overweight is a known cause of cancer. The link between sweetener and cancer is, as yet, unproven

Oly5 · 27/06/2018 11:20

*I would argue

Eating veg and fruit reduces the risk of cancer. I have Skye instead of Muller Lite. I've lost half a stone on 3 weeks.
