Could I do the SP plan long term?

I’m thinking of signing up to SW and following the sp plan.

I’ve read that it’s only meant to be followed for a few weeks at a time, but the thing is the food that’s ‘allowed’ is what I should be eating anyway (diagnosed yesterday with PCOS and insulin resistance - so potatoes and carbs are out of the picture)

I’ve been researching it online and figure I could use the ‘healthy A’ for some cheese, the healthy b for nuts and seeds, and sin some olive oil, avocado, treats etc.

I take a pretty good multi vitamin and will have to avoid refined sugar, bread, potatoes and pasta anyway (I think a sweet potato and some quinoa is fine, so I could maybe have a ‘normal sw week sometimes)

Has anyone tried it long term? Do you think it could work?

I did it for just over 2 months and lost two stone. Then got pregnant so I stopped. I think it's a very good plan and should be promoted more rather than some secret deal under the table. (Not a sw fan!)

I used to take olive oil as my b even though it's not on the list any more.

Wow that’s impressive!

Thank you, yes it looks really good but I had to do some digging around to actual find the details. I couldn’t find them on the official sw site.

I’m going to join tomorrow, quite excited really 😁

I'm an online member and there is lots more info about sp online.

I follow it and have lost 1/2 stone so far, 1 1/2 to go.

I'm thinking of doing this too. I have a horrific sugar addiction and am prediabetic so I would like to cut down some carbs but would still like someproper stoneground wholemeal bread. I was thinking if I went on a sugar detox I could use all my syns on fat like full fat dairy and olive oil and it would be far healthier. You aren't allowed the infamous Muller Lights and I could use spray oil instead of fry light, so 2 of the main things Im not sure are exactly great for you to eat can be cut out.

Can someone share the basic principles please?

raisedbyguineapigs · 09/06/2018 15:08

The basic principle is that you eat only speed and protein foods, so the ones in your book that have an s or p beside it. You have your hex a and two hex b and still have your suns. You can't have yoghurt, potatoes, rice or pasta even synned.

I think you could do it long term as it Is still a healthy way of eating...

Also, olive oil is still a HEb isn't it?
