First week and feeling very low energy

I’m just wondering if this is to do with me changing the way I eat or if it’s something else.. (I do have anemia!) I can’t eat whole meal bread due to IBS so I’ve just been having oats every morning. So no bread now since Thursday. Also I pretty much lived on chocolate before and I feel very different since cutting right down to having around ten syns a day.
I have no energy at all!
Is it my body adjusting? Did anyone else feel different in their first week?

Yes definetly.

I’m now 14 weeks in and feel GREAT have lost nearly 2 stone.

I went from being a chocolate and cake bingeing addict to now finally I rarely touch it (the craving takes a long time to go though but you must fight it if you want change)

In my first two weeks I had a few episodes of the shakes and even felt faint a few times. I just made sure I ate little and often of healthy choices.

It is SO worth it when you stick at it. The energy I have now is unreal and I am so much thinner and fitter.

I don't remember now. But I was quite poorly when I started and now I feel much better when I eat what I class normal. Last week I was away and ate crap, my skin was horrible, I felt horrible. Now a week on, I feel much better and hope I am still at target.

Thank you both so much, I was seriously wondering if I’d made the right decision by starting but this is a huge boost to me.

Another thing though..sorry if TMI but I’ve needed the loo so many times every day. Is this another body adjustment thing? I’m scared to eat out because I need to race to the loo every time I eat!! Maybe it’s all the fibre and protein and not sugar and bread like it was used to?

@Realitea totally normal! You are going to toilet more because you're consuming a lot more fibre like your healthy extra B choice plus fruit and vegetables too.

Also, in regards to feeling the way you're feeling. Are you substituting anything with sweeteners? I only ask because I feel extremely ill and lethargic if I have any sweeteners that contain aspartame in my diet. I didn't realise this until I stopped using Candarel. It just didn't agree with me at all and I'd get a bad headache and a dry mouth. Just something worth mentioning in case it's happening to you!

You also go to the toilet more when you are losing weight, you either poo, pee or exhale the excess away Grin

I didn’t know that, infinitesheldon Shock well I suppose it has to go somewhere!

I think the sweetener might be to do with it. I’ll cut it out for a while and see what happens. Thank you!

I've got IBS and am doing SW.
I find that too much fibre (esp things like apples) make it worse.
It might be worth you the googling FODMAP diet if you're not already aware of it, and concentrate on speed foods which are low FODMAP for at least the first few weeks until your body adjusts.

And I'd second the advice about sweeteners, they mess me up too.
So many people following SW eat loads of stuff with sweeteners (Muller lights, diet drink etc. - I have to avoid it all)

It was the sweetener which makes me sad as it was the one thing making the porridge I have every day bearable. I’ll adjust though.
Low fodmap is great, I followed it before but fell off the wagon. Looks like I need to follow it again aswell as leaving out the sweetener.

In case it helps you - I make my porridge with: 40g porridge oats (HexB) a generous amount of cinnamon, water (not milk - I'm allergic to dairy and even if I wasn't, it would save my HexA for something else) then microwave for 10 mins on the Simmer setting (so it cooks slowly)

Then, when it's cooked, stir in a load of blueberries (I buy frozen ones then thaw them out overnight in the fridge)

I find that sweet enough Smile
