Should I start Slimming World?

I am mid 30's and weigh about 10st 11. I am about 5ft 4inch. I would ideally like to lose a stone but mainly kick my sugar addiction and eat healthier. My self control is terrible so I am thinking that maybe if I join a group it may help? Something to do, socialising too? These dark days aren't helping and I'm constantly craving starchy, sweet foods and feeling sleepy. Advice welcome. Thanks

I find SW works for me. Nothing is forbidden. There’s so much you can eat on it.

Thanks. I'm a bit nervous about joining but I need to make some diet changes although would only realistically want to lose about a stone, stone and half

I've found that unless you have portion control, slimming world will only work to a certain extent.

Also - SW just tends to replace actual sugar with sweetener.

I joined with less than two stone to lose and find that it works for me. The insistence on 'speed' food (aka veggies and fruit), the daily Healthy Extras (calcium and a small amount of bread/cereal etc) and the limited number of Syns means that you are encouraged to eat healthily.

Some people will do SW and eat Mullerlight all day, others will do it and cook all their food from scratch. You get out of it what you put in.

As long as it's fairly easy and straight forward. Just got to have better will power, mind you if I'm going to be weighed every week that might just be the incentive I need

I've lost a stone using the WeightWatchers app. (Over a couple of months). You eat what you want but have a daily points limit. I've found it pretty easy to stick to.

Good luck with whichever option you choose!!

I originally started SW because I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle, I know a lot of people want to lose stones in weight (which is fine) but I think those who are the most successful want to live a healthier and more active lifestyle. Both are fine but I think going because you want to better your life means you will stick to it more! Good luck!
