Hello, I have just found out today that I am 1-2 weeks pregnant and I am a current member of SW and have been since January, I am 8.5 lb away from target and would like to carry on as I put on way too much weight with my first pregnancy.

Is it safe to carry on and lose some weight whilst pregnant? I read that you need to get a signature from a midwife to allow you to continue but I probably won't see a midwife until around 8 weeks?! Confused Any advice much appreciated Smile Thank you

I think you have an extra hexa and b when pg. I've got the booklet but the kids are sitting on me at the mo, I'll check later.

You should concentrate on maintaining when pg rather than losing.

Congratulations on your pg!

Yes the focus is on heathy eating rather than weight loss. Though to be fair before 8 weeks you're probably ok doing the plan as-is, then you can talk to your midwife. Then yes, extra HExA and B. Congratulations!

PS I got horrible morning sickness and couldn't stick to any eating plan - don't be too upset if you can't follow it all the time when preg x

Speak to your consultant as there is a booklet you should get.

Thank you everyoneSmile I had really bad sickness with my first pregnancy so I am prepared for perhaps not being able to be on plan all of the time but I am really keen to keep any weight gain to a minimum.

@mrskitty15, my congratulations! Sport during pregnancy is both good and bad. Here you need to be extremely careful! To my regret, I was not pregnant and I doubt if I will. But for example, I know that my surrogate mother, who will be carrying my child to me, is very actively preparing for this process. And with the sport she has a good conversation) The first trimester is after all the most exciting period of pregnancy. Competent sports at this time will help to weaken and toxicosis and dizziness. Therefore, before you continue your program, you should certainly consult with your doctor. To some people, sports in general are contraindicated! The very beginning of pregnancy is a difficult stage, during which all the organs and systems of the future fetus are formed, and any overloads will not be beneficial to the baby. Work in the gym before the seventh sweat, long marathon distances (like sprint races), ski slopes are strictly forbidden to you. Now you need to learn to calculate your strengths and dose the load in the light of your new condition. My friend, by the way was engaged in gymnastics up to 8 months of pregnancy! So, there are exceptions to the rules :)
