Hi! Has anyone signed up to sw online? How does it work?

If I use my own scales in my own home, how do they know I'm not telling porkies?!

Think it works by you being honest

No point cheating yourself. Some youtubers do it from home with success. I follow one, she's done really well

Don't know anyone in RL who has tho

BrutusMcDogface · 01/05/2017 07:32

Thanks for the response!

Oh I know, wouldn't cheat myself, guess I was just wondering how it was managed.

I'm not sure how good my scales are but I can't get to the classes really without a whole load of faff so I thought I'd try online.

I tried it online but I didn't get on with it. I'm not a stupid person but I found the rules confusing and once someone in real life had explained them to me I found them too vague to stick to. I think that SW is probably done best when you have real life support from a group. Several years ago I followed WW online and that worked for me because everything was so well defined.

Brighteyes27 · 01/05/2017 07:57

I did it a goodly while ago once for a time whenDC very young, DH working very long days etc. It worked well up to a point I lost 2.5-3 stone. I had an allocated slot every week at a time of my choosing where the same someone from SW would call me. I would weigh myself half an hour before the call and she was a really nice woman supporting and encouraging and helped with any questions about the plan. I never felt rushed. If I knew in advance I was busy the week after I could change my slot but got someone else. But now with all the technology and apps availabl I'm unsure whether that human support is still available with the online package. At the time I did it with the Adviser I had I actually found I got more out of it and it was much more individual than a class.

The only person you'd be telling porkies to is yourself!

I admire those who have succeeded at SW online. There's no way I could do it; for me it would be far too easy to slip up. For various reasons, I need the thought of standing on scales in front of someone once a week. It's that accountability that keeps me going.

I joined online about 6 months ago. You are basically on your own but they do have webchats, these always seemed to be when I was at work or otherwise busy so I never joined one. Once I'd got the hang of it after the initial three months was up I cancelled as it really wasn't worth a fiver a week. I logged my weights on Fitbit as well as SW so I have carried on by myself that way and post any questions on MN plus read the SW threads for support/motivation. My loss hasn't been spectacular but I am slowly heading in the right direction.

I've just started online - 4lb loss the first week. No point in cheating as I'd be the one loosing out. I've hear horror stories about the groups and don't have the time to sit and listen to people discussing what weight they have or haven't lost. The person who runs our local group is a very large lady - not the greatest example of SW. I've signed up for 3 months and am determined to develop better eating habits (less chocolate and crisps would be a good start!) and loose 2st.

northerny · 01/05/2017 09:06

I should add that even though I go to the meetings to get weighed, I don't stay to group.

I don't have time to listen to how Mavis lost half a pound and how Jenny put on two pounds after eating a Curly Wurly.

Timeforabiscuit · 01/05/2017 09:09

Dh has done group slimming world for a lengthy time and had significant weight loss, but thought he would try online this time round - going for a week so far!

Im also doing "slimming world" but just by following the regimen and the weekly weigh in at home.

Timeforabiscuit · 01/05/2017 09:10

The biggest advatage has been all the recipes unavailable online, they've been really good so far.

Groovee · 01/05/2017 09:29

If you have Facebook there are a lot of great slimming world groups you can join for questions and support. I find it more helpful than my own group.

As long as you weigh in on the same scales every week is what is important.

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/05/2017 09:39

I never really looked at any of the online recipes, which was silly as now I can't access them. However I also had the magazine a few times as part of my subscription and haven't used any from that either though it had a few useful tips, to be honest the savoury suggestions were similar to my normal cooking which I've adjusted to use less fat and more veg. All the pudding ideas were full of sweeteners but I'd rather eat smaller / less frequent portions of full sugar versions.

BrutusMcDogface · 01/05/2017 09:53

Thanks for all the responses!

I used to go to group so I do get how it works. For some reason I seem unable to follow the plan without weekly accountability, though...when you weigh in I guess you log it online? What happens if you reach target whilst online- do you still get free lifetime membership?

If you follow some on instagram then they post pics of what they eat in a day

I'm lazy so find this useful. I can just copy
