Free (or very low syn) frozen chips or similar

I know I can do the SW chips and I like them, but I'd really like to be able to pull something from the freezer on busy days. Any suggestions on stuff I can buy (or make in advance) that can be popped in the oven with whatever else we're having? Could I freeze half jacket potatoes, do you think?

2LittleMonkeys, I wish syn-free frozen chips existed, but they don't!
I suppose you could freeze baked jacket potatoes, but they don't take long to cook anyway: I cook mine in the microwave, then just crisp up in the oven.
McCain's frozen jackets are 1 syn each.
Aunt Bessie's frozen sweet potato jackets are syn-free.

I might have to check out the frozen sweet potato ones.
I could just cook SW oven chips then freeze on a tray and reheat in the oven I guess... A bit of a faff, but sometimes I'm in no position to do anything!

Thanks for that. Is that 100g frozen or cooked?

healthyobsessions, I've not had those McCain's rustic oven chips for ages, as I'd forgotten all about them.
Will now rediscover, thank you.

You can freeze SW chips :) just cut your potatoes into chip shapes, boil as you usually would and leave to dry. Then freeze them and get them out when needed, spray with fry light and cook in a pre heated oven :)

I think that's a good plan. The rustic ones were nice but could have done with loads of ketchup and mayo...

I'm lazy so I would buy frozen SW chips if I could.
I don't peel the potatoes to make chips (to save time), then I make double, cook half and freeze half.
I lay mine out on greaseproof paper or clingfilm on top of a baking tray, spray them with fry light then freeze them.
Once they're frozen I put them into a freezer bag, then that they don't stick together as much as putting them in the bag before freezing.
Then just take them out as I need them and cook them :-)
