I joined SW tonight and im feeling positive about my journey starting. I have a 2st target loss and id like to lose at least 1st for my friends wedding in september. It would be nice to gain some other posters and to have motivation from each other :)

I went to my first group tonight. My biggest worries are sugar and milk! I love my tea with milk and sugar and it's looking a bit limiting. I need to do some shopping as I don't have anything low fat in the house- hence needing SW.

My biggest worries are olive oil and butter!

Sunshine2243 · 02/08/2016 22:07

Been on it for a week now, had a cheeky nandos (took the skin off the chicken though!) but apart from that been good! First weigh in tomorrow 🙈 Hopefully some loss!

I use fry light on everything! The sunflower one does horrible things to your pans but the butter, olive oil and garlic ones are great!
Butter - I use a laughing cow triangle instead of butter on sandwiches or poached egg on toast.
Easy suggestions - to bulk up your super free veg, grate a courgette or carrot or butternut squash into chilli or bolognaise. You can't taste it!! (I also put courgette in fat free yoghurt, sweet we and 35g oats for breakfast).

If you're going out for a meal, try and choose food without creamy sauces. Indian - sizzler type meals are good or vegetarian curries.
Chinese - stay away from deep fried anything. Oyster sauce, black bean sauce are both reasonably low in syns and stick to plain boiled rice.
Harvester is good as you can have lots of salad and jacket potato.
There is a section in the back of the book that gives average sun values for different types of food.
Avoid pizza!!!! Even the pizza express legera (the one with the hole in the middle) is 22 syns!!!
Subway do AWESOME salad bowls that you can top with a sandwich filling (I have double steak and chipotle mayo which is about 4 syns and tastes a bit like a Big Mac!!) and jacket potato stands are always a good idea.

Hmm I think I spent too much time living in Spain and Italy... I use olive oil like it's water. Probably why I'm overweight Wink. Oh well, I guess a change in mindset is that it's all about. I'll buy some fry light!

NickyEds · 03/08/2016 17:35

I've never even been to Spain or Italy and I do that! Tonight we're having roast chicken (with rosemary garlic and lemon, the skin will be lovely for dp, boo) with roast red onion, courgette, peppers and sweet potato wedges. I would ordinarily douse all of the veg in big glugs of olive oil but tonight they have been sprayed with fry light, it looks a bit funny tbh but we'll see how we get on.....
Tried my tea with sweetener instead of sugar today and it was fine so that will save me 3-4 syns a day from now on, as predicted today's syns are milk and sugar!

blueistheonlycolourwefeel · 03/08/2016 19:35

You do need to spray it quite a lot. I red to spray the tray, then spray the veg and again half way through cooking. The chips are awesome!!

Mmm sounds nice NickyEds.
Sea bass with roasted veg here.

I've been on W for approx 8 weeks, and have lost 1st 4.5lbs, and DH has lost 2.5st, but he was over 25st to start. I was 17 st 12lbs.

The books are highly recommended. We have Family Feasts on a budget. All recipes are estimated to be under £2.50 per portion, I think.
Free food feasts - lots of totally free recipes.
Light bites - wee snacks or side dishes that you can have with a meal.
Meals for One - Sometimes easier to double up a meal than halve it, especially for the likes of us, where there are just the two of us.

The next one I want is one of the One Pot recipe books. Can't remember the full title but it has a blue cover and I think it's a hardback.

Epic fail last night. The kids were little sods all day and then my sister got a particularly unpleasant letter from her arsehole ex so I went to the pub and had tea and 4 glasses of wine with her Blush. Bollocks.

I've just joined online. Not sure about joining a group too maybe - I'll see how it goes. I picked slimming world over weight watchers because it's advertised as suitable for when you're nursing but I can't find anything about how to adapt the diet if you're nursing. Does anyone have any experience of that? Thanks

Meow75 · 07/08/2016 20:28

I'm not nursing myself, but I believe there is a booklet, with advice for nursing mums.
Have a look around the website, I'm sure that's where I saw reference to it.
