Cheese

Apologies for maybe a silly question but it is only my third day and I am an online SWer so I don't know if I am missing info.
I am confused about cheese. Is it a heA or a syn? I am talking about a normal portion of cheddar (a piece). If I cut a piece and have it on a cracker, is that piece of cheese a heA or a syn?
Also, I am confused about porridge. Again is it a free food, a heB or a syn?
Thanks

You can have oft as either your hexa or syns. Remember it needs weighing though. Lso if you have it as your hexa tou have to syn any milk or other cheese tou have.

Same with porridge it's hexb or syns.

Hex a for a measured amount (check your book for the weight you're allowed for that type of cheese) if you go over that amount or have already used your hex a allowance then it counts as syns. The amount of syns will depend on the weight and type of cheese, again always best to check before you eat it rather than afterward!

"I am talking about a normal portion of cheddar (a piece). If I cut a piece and have it on a cracker, is that piece of cheese a heA or a syn?"

Neither because you haven't weighed it...

Health extras are weighed and measured amounts as are syns.

A choices are dairy or dairy replacements so cheese can be used as one or it can also be syns if you take more than that amount or have used your A choice on something else.

The same goes for porridge oats, except it's a B choice...B choices are things like bread, cereal, cereal bars, dried or cooked fruit, nuts or some tinned soups.
