I am now the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I am 10st 7lbs (but only 4ft11) .
Im utterly fed up, clothes dont fit me - even my leggings are tight.
Im busy with home and work and dont have time to make elaborate meals- is this even suitable for me?
any advise appreciated. Please!
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 20:55
Get yourself along there on Monday. Honestly, it's a good, sustainable diet where you're not hungry and you can eat a lot. I've lost about 9lbs now (in a few weeks) and my clothes are already so much comfier. I'm about 5'5" and was over 12.5st! Normal weight pre-kids was about 10.5st.
You can do it - the weekly weigh ins are really motivating and you won't regret signing up, I promise.

There are brilliant recipe books you can use to batch cook, and a magazine that has good meal ideas too. Meal prep doesn't have to take you hours.
What are you eating in a day at the moment, and I'll try and give you an idea of how it could be adapted to be sw friendly?
Mintyy · 06/11/2015 20:59
I didn't get on with it at all. Couldn't get my head round a diet where you are allowed unlimited pasta but only the tiniest amount of cheese or butter.
It is basically a very low fat diet with lots of extremely outdated ideas (such as using diet drinks and low fat this and that). I also found the group leader reading out everyone's losses and people having to comment on them unbearably cringey.
To me it felt like a diet club from the 1970s.
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 21:02
It's working for me, and I'm not eating or drinking loads of diet anything - just sticking to simple food; meat, fish, pulses, fruit and veg as well as rice and eggs.
I'm honestly feeling such a lot better since cutting the crap out of my diet, and actually I ate a packet of frazzled today and felt a bit sick at the fatty, chemical taste (I bloody loved frazzles!).
Tiredemma · 06/11/2015 21:03
To be fair my 'main meals' are not too bad. I just eat loads of shit as snacks (chocolate is my main drag)
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 21:03
They do have cringey branding, there I have to agree!
Tiredemma · 06/11/2015 21:08
quickbrown- can you give me an example of what you would have in a day?
What are 'syns'?
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 21:08
My advice is give it a bash for two weeks. And see what happens.
There's no commitment to keep going if you decide it's not for you. I think there are probably menu planners to guide you through a week with minimal thought required on your part, which might be a good start?
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 21:13
X post- of course. Today I ate...
Breakfast:
Fruit & fibre with banana and yoghurt
Lunch:
Baked potato with tuna and cheese and lots of salad.
Tea/supper/whatever you like to call it:
Spaghetti bolognaise
In between, I've had cups of tea with semi skimmed milk, an apple, a couple of pears and a packet of salt and vinegar rice cakes.
Yesterday I ate....
Breakfast:
Cooked tomatoes and scrambled egg on a slice of wholemeal toast
Lunch:
Coronation chicken (made with low fat mayo and yoghurt, curry powder and mango chutney) salad
Tea:
Roast chicken with roast veg. For the roast I don't use fat for cooking, I drizzle stock over it all.
Tiredemma · 06/11/2015 21:14
ta
ill give it a blast.
Nothing to lose.....(only the weight of course)
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 21:20
Syns are the things you have to count. You can have between 5 and 15 per day I think.
So, a bag of crisps might be 6, and a chocolate bar might be 8, for example.
You don't have to use your syns in the one day, you can gather them up and have a blow out which is useful. You soon work out what the low syn treats are!
Once you're in the swing of it, it's a straightforward plan and in my experience it really does work. Some weeks I'm astonished I've lost weight because I feel like I'm eating a lot!
Tomboyinatutu · 06/11/2015 21:21
It's brilliant! I have been doing it for about 8 weeks and I have lost over a stone. I also did it a few years ago and went from a size 20 to 8-10 in just over half a year....I should have kept it up but I was foolish! I'm so glad I am on it again!
thequickbrownfox · 06/11/2015 21:21
Good luck. Aware I'm coming across as slightly evangelical, but I have been bloody struggling to shift this weight and its dropping off now, I'm feeling really good about it.
Look forward to hearing how you get on .
Babyroobs · 06/11/2015 23:05
I have lost ten pounds in my frst two weeks and have enjoyed the food and not really felt hungry. I don't drink diet drinks, mainly water, tea and fresh lemon juice in hot water. It is basicaly just a helathy, low fat diet with lots of fruit and veg. I also don't eat loads of muller lights like some seem to as I don't think artificial sweeteners are particularly good for me. I feel so much better for having ditched all the sugar and fat, I have more energy already.
lighteningirl · 08/11/2015 17:39
I love it it's not a low fat diet at all ( I spend syns on cheese and mayonnaise) its just sensible eating with loads of support. I don't do diet drinks and I love my pasta I eat loads as long as you have 1/3 veg it's free. I've lost four stone not sure what Minty does but it's not the SW I do if groups not for you don't stay but loads of people do and love it.
