I have a friend who is dairy intolerant and she dry mashes the spuds, adds salt and pepper then whisks 2 eggs into it - makes a lovely smooth mash.

Great I'll try it thanks!

Have you tried a little olive oil? That's what i used when i was making mash for a vegan friend as i'd run out of dairy free spread.

I use basics mayo in mine. Think it's dairy safe but has egg.

Chicken broth or vegetable broth?

iklboo · 05/05/2015 18:53

If it's just because of the Healthy A reason, try Butter Buds. 1/2 syn each but they do give a nice flavour. They're good on fried mushrooms as well (fry light fried, of course). I get ours from Amazon. They last ages.

I put a bit of almond milk in mine!

NightOwl17 · 12/05/2015 22:29

I have used fat free natural yogurt in the past & it was great. You couldn't tell at all. Best of all, it's free Smile

2 egg yolks and some wholegrain mustard!

readysteady · 12/05/2015 22:30

Why would you need to put dairy in mash?? I just mash with a bit of salt and pepper and a dash of water drained in

CtrlAltDelicious · 12/05/2015 22:37

Because dairy adds a lovely creaminess that lots of people like in mash. It's very usual to add some form of dairy.

dragonfly007 · 12/05/2015 22:40

I add 1 laughing cow light at 1/5 syn

LittlePeasMummy1 · 12/05/2015 22:51

Soya cream works v well in mash.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/05/2015 23:02

My DD won't eat mash if it has butter, milk or anything in it so I just under drain the spuds and then mash really well.
