Being vegetarian on slimming world

... And a fussy one too.

Just had a syn free meal. Linda McCartney red onion and Rosemary sausages, baked beans and syn free chips. No syns at all in that until I added a couple of syns worth of brown sauce! I didn't think I could ever find something that felt like a non diet meal on a diet. I really enjoyed it and the sausages were amazing, my dsd even thought they were lovely and she is a real carnivore.

I noticed too loads more meat free stuff that I would like so I am going to see what the syns are in it all and hopefully I will have a bit more variety which will stop the restrict/binge cycle.

Anyone have any other vegetarian meal ideas that don't have tomatoes or mushrooms in? I am trying to find a suitable sauce to have with pasta. Normally I love cheesy pasta but the syn value in the cheese would be too high to have that too often.

try and find the recipe for spicy quorn curry - one of my favourites (essentially ginger, cumin, coriander, curry powder, onion, chilli, quorn, sweetcorn, stock & tomato puree).

Basic pasta sauces - onion, chillI/peppers, herbs, passata.

Sorry didn't see the no tomato bit!

That's ok! I don't make life easy for myself!

Someone at work suggested Kerry low low cheese spread In pasta. I got some today so will maybe give that a try. I also got some primula light as you can use that for putting in stuff according to the recipes on slimming world,

Primula light works well to cost pasta. If you fry some leeks until they're soft, add the primula light (half a tube is a HEa or 6 syns) and add cooked pasta.

You can make a nice cheese sauce by cooking a head of cauliflower in a small anount of veg stock, blending and adding a tub of Philadelphia lightest. It's 7 syns for the whole tub of Philly and the sauce is surprisingly nice. Use on cauliflower cheese or as a pasta bake sauce.

The low low spread works well on pasta...another one to try is carbonara, you can either just leave out the bacon or use quorn, the recipe is on the website.

Remember to have 1/3 plate of superfree (veg) with your meal.

Perfectlypurple · 21/04/2015 22:57

Can't always manage that dexter. I can when at home but on shifts when working in the evening I need something small and quick I can eat as not much time on my break. I do have lots of veg sticks throughout the day though.

Will look at the carbonara recipe - thanks
