What do you get with your membership fee?

I'm thinking about joining slimming world. Do you get all the information in a booklet/ book when you pay your membership fee or is this an extra you have to buy? Also are you pressurised into buying books and snacks at meetings?

Thanks

Yes you get all the info in a booklet.

At my group I have never felt pressure to buy a book or to buy snacks etc (although I do, sometimes).

I mean I do sometimes buy them, not I do sometimes feel pressured!

You get a pack with booklets in it. that's free. There is usually raffles and other fund raising which is a bit annoying but they aren't compulsory. There are quite a lot of bits and pieces for sale but the pressure to buy isn't that high from my experience. You also get access to their online forum which is useful. I found the SW diet very slow going but some people have great success so it is worth a try.

There's also usually a joining fee. Which used to be £10 plus the weekly membership.

Thank you. Another question, is it ok to bring children or is this not a good idea!

Usually the morning classes have a few babies and young children. Evening ones don't but perhaps one older child from time to time. Check with the leader. But children are certainy not 'banned'!

You can buy extra books and recipe books and these are always displayed on a table, but no pressure at all to buy them, they're just there if you want them.

I used to take my son to my evening group each week when I first joined as he was five weeks old and I was breastfeeding. Once he got older and could be left is leave him at home. A few people bring children or babies fairly regularly, our consultant doesn't mind and they are never disruptive. If you're worried, ring ahead and speak to the consultant. I did this and warmed to her immediately. She is fab!

My class has a colouring in table over in the corner, most people with children with them just get weighed and leave, but there's no problem at all if they stay.

Again the books, magazine and hifi bars are there if you want to but them, but they're not mentioned unless they're actually relevant to something a member wants to know and actually it's usually another member that says, have you tried rather than the consultant...or if there's a new flavour of hifi bar or new book, but that's just a case of, there's a new bar (with some out to try) if anyone fancies it or there's a new book with whatever style recipes.
