Slimming World

Any advice on Slimming World?

So, I've been in the obese caregory for years (5ft3, 12 stone 13, size 16/18 on bottom and a 14 on top), and my husband has been over weight for years too. When we met he was normal weight and I was "only" over weight not obese.

Due to recent health issues we've both decided to loose weight. He's joined the gym and I'm gonna go to sliming world, as I love to cook anyway so it won't change my life in terms of meal prep.

Have any of you lovely people done slimming world before? Any advice/sucess stories you can offer me before I begin (next week)? Thanks xx

Hi MrsGiraffe. I haven't got a lot of advice because I only joined last Tuesday but wanted to wish you good luck from a fellow newbie. I have found it quite easy to stick to this week but am really worried I have been eating too much. I have done ww in the past and sw is very different so I'm finding it a little strange. There are loads of lovely recipes onlone though and we have had some fabulous meals.

I found it a much better diet than Weightwatchers. It might seem complicated at first but if you stick to it then it will work. My greatest problem is actually sticking to diets. If I could do this then it would be fine. I have lost weight at Slimming World though. Good luck.

No advice as I have only been a member for two weeks, but good luck from a fellow newbie!

AbbyLou- I feel the same as you, I have found it quite easy to stick to, but i'm worried I have been eating too much too. All the free food confuses me, I don't get how you can eat all the free food and supposedly lose weight?! Most of my evening meals have been made up entirely of free food, so I have had quite big portions, which I think might not be a good thing! Oh well, weigh in tomorrow so we will see!

Oh, just a little bit of advice, the SW chips are really yummy! (either regular potatoes or sweet potatoes) Grin

I think my only advice would be:
a) Be careful not to overeat, you have to learn portion control even if you are eating healthy food.
b) Try to develop healthy eating habits. You can do the diet eating a lot of processed low-fat food and synthetic sweetened drinks but try not to. Try to develop the habit of eating good fresh food.

I have lost over 3 stone since December. Not the fastest but I've still been having the odd takeaway etc. I love it - it really is a lifestyle change that you can stick to for life rather than a faddy short-term diet. Good luck to you all Smile

I was 12 st 11lb and 5'3" when I started in March, so much the same as you, OP. I'm now down to 10 stone, and size 10/12 so it is a bit of a no brainer to me. I've not been hungry, not struggled very much and only put on weight one very naughty week. I'm feeling highly delighted with my progress and if you start now you will be feeling the same in February 2014.
