Nap times and party times

DD, 8m, and the youngest in my group of mum chums and babies. We have been invited to three first birthday parties in the next few weeks. Good. We both like a party.

But all three parties are 1pm to 3pm. The first time I thought - hmmm, that's a funny time, surely most babies have a post lunchtime nap? Then when I got another two I thought... maybe they don't?

DD isn't the most reliable sleeper but does tend to have lunch at 12/1230 and then have a nap from about 1pm for a good hour and a quarter. I thought a lot of babies, especially at this age, had a big sleep then (all those who have read the books, of course) I know, I know, all babies are not the same but imagined there was some conformity...

So - why the party time at nap time? Am I wrong? Or when babies get to a year does it all change?

DD isn't the sort to fall asleep mid party either so I guess I have to keep her awake...

My babies were still having one nap mid morning and another mid afternoon at 8 months, so those party times would have been fine. We dropped the morning nap and moved to one post-lunchtime nap at about 16-18 months, IIRC. Maybe some of the babies you know do that pattern instead.

my 2 had dropped to 1 nap by 11 months and had a nap from 11am/12pm for a couple of hours so yes those times would have been inconvenient for me too.
