What time does your preschool dc wake up?

My ds3.11 wakEs up at 6.15-6.30. I struggle to get him back to bed for half hour. Should we be expecting him to go to bed till 7? If not how do I convince dh that we now have to get up earlier?

Really varies. Today was 5am, Friday it was after 9am. She is 3.3yo.

just turned four last week.

today 5:45am but it was her birthday party yesterday and she was asleep by 6pm! It varies on a normal day between 6am and 6:45am, with the most part being between 6am-6:30am, and the odd 5:30am, much to the absolute horror of DH, it has not changed for over a year (used to be 7am ish) and appears to be like this now.

oh and she goes to bed at 7pm/7:15pm. She used to go to bed between 7:30pm-8pm but still got up at the same time, and as she is getting more active and doing and learning more, she is more tired so we had to move it earlier.

that time is pretty normal i'd say.

we have this which helps

we set it for 6.20 or 6.30 depending on weekend/week day.

have just ordered this for ds2 who has been getting up around 5. this morning he woke at 4.20

I just re-read and saw the bit about your DH. DH insisted that DD went back to bed til 7am, he refused, absolutely refused to have her up before then, caused a few arguments. She just would not stay in bed, could not. She has now, over a period of time learnt to go back to her room sometimes (not every day) and play quietly, but often then pokes her head out every 10 mins to see if she can get up! DH has never been convinced, even now he tried to get her back to sleep.

oh yes, the gro clock.

Don't by the disney/peppa pig one. DD has the princess one, and she can change the time on it, not impressed at being woken at 5am with the sun high in the sky 'mama! mama! it CHANGED! Its the MORNING!!!' and bouncing around all pleased with herself. They can't change the gro-clocks themselves (I am buying one this week!)

Well we just had full blown arguement with ds as he refused to go back his bedroom! And he woke dd up! This is symptomatic of the fact he never dies what's he is told at mo.

He is a 7pm bedtimer but was up late last night as we had visitors! Late nights never make any
difference to waking time.

I'll have look at clock. He has a lamp that's supposed to come on on a timer when it's time to get up. And he knows where the hands of the clock have to be for 7oclock.

He already has very heavy curtain but a bay window so I'm not sure the curtains will work.

nettie your ds sounds so much like my dd. The age is very similar so I am guessing it is age related? DD wakes her little brother up, or rather used to, she sort of helped get his own bedtime routine to start so early I think. She also does not very much we ask her, falls on deaf ears, or ends with a fight/tantrum.

I guess, this is one of the times when that old mantra is wheeled out 'this too shall pass' so get repeating!

We try to say to DD, go upstairs and play with your toys quietly, or, you can stay downstairs, but there will no tv on, and no toys are allowed down until 7am so you will be bored. It is starting to work, she will want to stay down then, after 10 mins she will go back up, and now sometimes she comes down, we send her back and to play and she goes up without a fuss. not always, and she rarely if ever goes back to sleep, unless it is really really early.

Once, she went back to sleep after waking at 5:30am, and slept til 8am, then woke saying 'oh i slept for a long time, i slept very well' 'how do you feel for your long sleep' 'very good, i feel very good mama' never to be repeated!
