Daytime sleep problems - night time perfect

My 7 month old daughter will put herself to sleep at night with no problems at all, but during the day is another story. I don't understand why she can get herself to sleep at night, but refuses during the day. I have made the room as dark as possible, tried the same night routine, but without any luck. She is tired, with yawning and rubbing her eyes. I have tried a lot of suggestions from this website such as patting, crying etc. She will sleep in my arms and if I lie down with her. Please help me as I feel like I've tried everything.

I think you've got to grit your teeth and go the controlled crying route. That's what I did with both of mine and, although it's painful at the time, I don't regret it at all. Each time it took 1 - 2 weeks to establish the principle that they go to sleep, on their own in their cot, with no dummy or music or anything, and stay asleep until the end of the nap. With no1 it then took a couple of months of giving naps priority to establish a good sleeping habit, and no2 looks to be going the same way. I used Gina Ford for inspiration regarding nap times and lengths.

Sorry, I agree with boyand girl, they are little robots really and they will fall into the routine you want eventually - stick to it though!

However, I love my afternoon sleep (haven't had one for weeks and am really missing them) if you enjoy sleeping with dd in afternoon then do it, you can always crack her at a later date and they are little for such a short time.
