What time does your 2yo fall asleep?

DS turned 2 this weekend. For last few weeks he's been falling asleep at close to 10pm. If he's completely shattered, ie has missed his nap at nursery, then he might fall asleep closer to 8pm. Not always though.

He's never been good at going to sleep, fights it with every ounce of his being! We've been trying to get him to fall asleep by himself more as we've another baby due in October and can't be spending 2 hours settling him. He's managing it sometimes but very late- the less soothing to sleep we do, the later he falls asleep. He seems to have real problems 'switching off'.

Anyone else have a toddler dropping off this late? Anything we can do to help him fall asleep a bit earlier?

God you've timed that well.

I think you're right, we now have DS sleeping for 8 but he's waking up stupidly early. What have we done??! Idiots.

Think she'll be on time?

Get used to early wakings - I don't think 6.30am is early at all anymore, in fact, I'm pretty happy if not woken until that time!

Dd2 (2.7) sometimes naps and sometimes doesn't. If she drops off in the car on the way home from preschool, I let her sleep up to 40 mins and then wake her. Even then, she still takes longer to settle (but is almost always asleep by 8pm latest),

If she doesn't sleep, yes she is foul, yes it is hard work...but she'll go to sleep a lot quicker and I find that SO much more relaxing in the evenings.

It's always useful to hear others are going through this too, I know it's an age thing, I know it WILL get easier....but at the moment it feels pretty relentless.....

By the way, dd1 dropped her nap at almost exactly the same time that I pursuaded dd2 to start sleeping after lunch. I had been looking forward to finally getting a little bit of time to myself again and was gutted!

It's quite nice in there, I can think of worse places to camp!

Are you wanting to go for induction or are they pushing for it?

Stranded, it does almost seem worth the evil mood when they're asleep in 5 minutes flat.

Mine was still bouncing off her bedroom walls at 10pm this evening. Just doesn't like going to sleep.

She goes to sleep better if she doesn't have a nap, but then she gets grumpy at nursery and bites the other children!

Sigh.... DD1 (4) drops off within 5 minutes every night, why is pesky DD2 such a night owl! ?

Ah, knew I shouldn't have posted.

No nap yest for ds, so he was asleep in 20 secs by 6.20pm- but awake at 4.30!! (asleep again at 5.10... but only til 6)

Think we'll stick to nap and 6.30-7 bedtime for time being... but something may be changing

Dd had a crazy nap transition time, where we would desperately try to keep her awake but she wanted to sleep at 5pm... awful. But came out the other side!!
