How do I stop DD (aka The Hoover) from waking at night to eat?

DD2 is 16m and eats all day long. We have aptly re-named her 'The hoover'...

She is by no means fat or overweight but this has been going on for a few months now so I don't believe its a growth spurt.

She goes to bed at 8(ish) with a bottle, then wakes at 11 and will have some more milk, then has some more when I go to bed at 12(ish) and then wakes a few more times during the night.

She is not a baby anymore and I believe she should make it through the night with just waking once perhaps. I thought that maybe its a comfort / habit thing so I tend not to talk to her, just gently lie her down in bed again and give water every second bottle, hoping that she thinks its not worth waking up to.

Anyhoooowww, things are not working out at all and wondered if anyone has any useful advice for me. I'm alright with not having slept through a single night for 4 years but waking up every few hours is starting to do my head in.

So please, all advice welcome.

Hi Schnullerbacke. I'm afraid I don't have any good advice, but can totally commiserate with you because my DS (14mo) is exactly the same!!

He eats really well in the day (in fact, he's also like a hoover!) but still wakes up every few hours at night for a feed (I breastfeed him). It's been getting worse recently and I'm knackered...well,even more knackered than I usually am!

He throws a complete wobbly if I try to give him water instead and I find it easiest just to feed him and get him back to sleep as quickly as possible . I reckon he doesn't need the calories but is just wanting the comfort and cuddliness of it after I've been out a work.

Hopefully he'll grow out of it????
