DS used to be up aound 6.15am most days (which we thought was bad enough but got used it it over the last 8 months). This has very recently crept back to 6, 5.45am etc to 4.30am today!!!!!! When we tell him its not time to get up he just cries and cries and cries.

Nothing has changed, bedtime routine etc...he has a 90min nap in the day, up no later than 2.30pm goes to bed at 7pm but is often chatting til 8pm. Has blackout lining and blinds. (although i don't think the light mornings help) Also DC2 at 12 weeks often wakes for a feed around 5am so that hasn't help him either.

DD had a bunny clock years ago (now broken) and wondered what people thought of these clocks....which do you think is best...or ride it out or pay for a clock????

TIA

No advice I'm afraid but you have my unreserved sympathy. 5am here then nearly 2 hours of whining.
And that was just me! Honestly there are things DD could teach KGB about interrogation techniques, anybody would crack....

And flippin fathers day doesn;t help as i said i'd get up with all the kids and give dh a lie-in - not expecting 4.30am combined with babys night feeds

Just wary that £30 for a clock is a waste of money!

I have the grobag version which is brilliant (got through 2 bunny styles which broke). I like it because the stars around the outside gradually go out so DD knows if there's a long time left to sleep or if it's nearly morning.

You have my sympathy and it took a while to get DD out of the 5:30 wake-ups. We hard to start by setting the clock to 5:45 then kept adding. It meant a few mornings where I was basically up from 5 just putting her back to bed until the clock 'woke-up'.
I would suggest cutting the nap down too - around that age mine would just have quiet time on the sofa in front of the telly. Quite often they would fall asleep but it was just a snooze. I know it's painful losing the nap but you have to choose the lesser of two evils!!

DS is now nearly 6 btw and still relies on his clock to know what time to get up. He now wakes at 6:30 ish but doesn't come out of his room until 7. (Not saying that to be smug!!! Just to let you know that I have had a lot of use from it)

Thanks for that - it seems a more reasonable purchase if it gets used as a normal clock as they grow up. DD has a digital clock which keeps her in her room until 7am too

I don't think he's ready to drop his naps though, as by lunch time he'd fall asleep on the sofa if you left him, often crashes out in the car after 5mins, and always, always needs to be woken from his nap.

We bought the Groclock for 22 month old DD who regularly got up at 4.30/5am and it has worked wonders. She now wakes up between 6/7am or later. We were quite surprised that it did actually work tbh but very pleased! She's very proud of herself each morning and shows us the sun face on the clock.

DD2 is 2.7 and wakes veyr early, I am lucky in that she shares a room with DD1 though, who is 4.
Our rule is that they are not allowed in our bedroom before 7, there is a digital clock in the spare bedroom they can look at.
We moved selected toys upstairs into their room or the spare room and they are allowed to get out of bed and play with their toys as long as there is no yelling etc.
I still get woken at half 5/6 by them getting up and playing but it means I can get up,showered and dressed without an audience.

When we started it they wouldn't go to bed because of the toys so we woudl put things in their room after they were asleep

DD amuses herself....and DS is still in his
prison cot-bed fortunately

Much cheaper option is a light timer on a side light. If the light ain't on it ain't morning. We've progressed (at 3.9) to a digital clock as he knows if the number doesn't start with a six it isn't morning. Doesn't stop them waking IMO but at least it feels slightly more civilised. Although if you'd told me a couple of years back I'd consider 6am civilised.....
