My 3 yr old DS is waking in the night angry (sorry it might be long)

So my 3yr(nearly 4) old DS has started waking in the night this last week, since Saturday he's had a temperature but no other symptoms which disappeared on Tuesday night.

He's been waking up and crying, not shrill but throaty cries. He sometimes (until tonight) brings his legs to his chest and then jerks them straight for a minute or so, on and off. I rub his back and then he falls back to sleep.

As he's been off his food he's had plenty of fluids but is almost back to eating normally since Wed morning. He's been for poos and wees, doesn't complain they hurt and during the day hasn't complained of anything hurting either.

I understand he may be still feeling under the weather as he was back at Nursery yesterday morning and today but Nursery knew that if he wasn't well he could come straight home. He was normal at Nursery.

So tonight he wakes up and is crying and yelling, legs etc going. Doesn't want us to touch him at all this makes it worse. We put an extra light on and this makes it all a bit quieter but only slightly. All we can get out of him is that he doesn't like us, we mustn't touch and don't cover him over. So when we say that we're leaving to go back to bed he doesn't want us to go. Then he's happy for me to sit by the bed and hold his hand etc whilst he nods off. All of a sudden totally back to normal and sleepy boy.

So at the end of all that does anyone have any advice or anything similar happen to them? I'm hoping this doesn't go on or happen again.

TIA

Does he remember these episodes in the morning?

Could be night terrors?

This rings a bell for me for a few times when I was a child, I would get delirious and very sensitive about touch or texture. It was overtiredness I think.

Otherwise maybe night terrors?

oh i'd forgotten about night terrors. He sometimes says he's had funny (not ha ha ) dreams but more often than not he can't remember.

Will look into night terrors. Thank you
