Climbing out of the cot............

what do you do when your 20 month old has learned to climb out of the cot...........but there's absolutely NO way you can afford a bed ATM????

try lowering the mattress. Failing that put babe in a travel cot or do what I do..... pray that they don't land too hard on the floor. DT1 has been an escapee since she was 10/11 months.

Don't know QoQ but you won't be nipping round to school come September!

put a cat net over it?

Mars - mattress is as low as it will get, don't have a travel cot...........and as I read hope they don't land too hard DS2 fell out of the cot (not hard though) 1 minute after I'd put him back in.

Potty - I sure won't be LOL.

i was about to suggest mattress on the floor, and stair gate on bedroom door!

Put spare duvet doubled over on the floor at the side he escapes at least its a soft landing. Oh yeah and put stair gate on his bedroom door.

can't put a stairgate on the door as he shares with DS1 who's in the process of being night time trained.

I guess we could try the mattress of the floor............any suggestions how we keep him on it???

or share the bed with his brother?

can you take the side off the cot?

Then we have the problem of how to keep him in his bed/cot without side/mattress..........

DS1 was an absolute gem when he went into his bed (hadn't even started climbing out of the cot and he was nearly 2yrs old LOL) and never got out of bed.......so I've got NO idea how to keep active toddlers in their beds once they're out of the cot - I should add, when he's not climbing out of his cot he goes down brilliantly

I am really worried about cots here in Turkey where we live. The sides are so low. I found out that there is a legal minimum height in UK and the highest I found here is a good 4 inches lower than that.
Ds is 13 months at present so we need to start thinking about this fast,especiaaly as dd fell out of the cot at nearly 2 and broke her arm. Had to wear a little purple plaster cast.

You could try putting a chair/stool next to the cot, so that he climbs on that? dd climbed out on to the chest of drawers for months before we got a bed - but I can't remember when she started to do it, and she might have been a bit older - we got beds for them when she was about three, so she was climbing out of her cot for a long time!

I have just put my DTs in a bed (top and tail) they are 20 months, and they were falling out their cots.

They dont stay in the bed, I have to go in about 6 times and put them back to bed, but thay do go to sleep in the end.

I would try the mattress on the floor.

I had to put ds into bed at 12mths due to vaulting over the cot...One thing you could do if you can afford it is buy him a quilt cover with fave thing on. My ds for a week i had to sit in the room while he fell asleep..making him stay in the bed...since then we have had no probs and hes now 22mths

Well this morning DH put the side of the cot down so it's safer for him to climb out, and moved the little chest of drawers (2 drawers high without any legs LOL) next to it so that he could get out safely AND climb back in.

Tonight I've been in there 5 times so far to tell him to get back to bed

How many more times do you reckon I'll be back in there before he sleeps??
