my DD has always wanted to be held a lot, and from the first few weeks cried and woke when she was put down in moses basket, and screamed if put in there awake. I am happy to hold her and give her lots of cuddles but am trying to progress to having some time to myself...

for the last week we have progressed to her falling asleep in my arms after feed/bath, and then going in moses basket in our bedroom, lights dim etc around 8 or 9pm, sleeping until 1ish and then although waking for feeds (I am BF'ing on demand) roughly 3 hourly she goes back in moses basket asleep or very sleepy.

this has been ace as means me and hubby get some evening time together. My question is around her daytime sleep. She is sleepy and naps roughly 10-12pm, and then 2-4pm. All last week when she was asleep in my arms I tried to put her in moses basket (exactly same as night routine) but EVERY time she wakes after 2 mins and won't resettle. I'm not anxious about having time to myself but if she naps on me, she erm flops down, tummy down on me in all manner of positions, which I'm sure cannot be good for her spine. Or she will nap eventually in pram if we are out in afternoon.

WHY won't she sleep in basket? is this a big deal at 6 weeks? should I just be happy with bedtime routine started??

First of all, yes, you should be very happy that she's sleeping well at night.
Secondly, her napping on your chest or tummy is not bed for her spine. IIRC dd spent first few months of her life like that.
I would either let her sleep on you or take her out for a walk so she sleeps in a pram.
Then I would try again in a week or two.

Oh, and her nap times sound perfect!

Or you could get a sling, so you can move and do more things for yourself. I personally never came to grips with it and used a scarf of BabyBjorn (but that one is not that great for sleeping in, I think). Few months ago I got this other one, mmm...forgot the name...it's v.popular...will have a look and tell you, anyway it holds a baby in better position and is v.comfortable to carry as well.

Ah, yes, it's Ergo. Not sure if your dd is big enough for it yet, though.

scarf or BabyBjorn

Do not worry about routines at this stage feeding every 3 hours is pretty good think my DD was 1 1/2 to 2 hours at six weeks. Only a thought, but is moses basket mattress thin, if so could be uncomfortable, happened to me with travel cot? If money is not an object you could look at Prince Lionheart Slumber Bear Plus which plays heartbeat sounds or Miyo Baby Hammock if motion good.
