11 week old still waking every 2-3 hours

I'm looking for hope that I will get some sleep at some point! DS2 is 11 weeks old today and feeds every 2-3 hours during the night and has done since birth (he doesn't seem to be stretching out his feeds). He was 12lbs5 2 weeks ago (was 6lbs7 at birth), so I know he's doing well weight wise. Sometimes during the day he can sleep for 3 hours and I'm wondering whether to wake him? I'm keeping nighttime quiet/dark/boring and daytime noisy/light and chatting to him.

He's very windy, so I'm doing everything I can, but still losing this battle (Infacol, I've given up dairy, lots of massage etc). I think it's the wind waking him up to be honest. When he woke this morning at 4, I fed him, he then woke again at 5 (I then put him on DHs chest, where he slept until 8am).

Whilst I am not into 'routines' per se, I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to encourage him to sleep for slightly longer stretches at night.

Any advice / help really appreciated. I've been awake since 4am this morning, resulting combination of DS1 and DS2, so desperate for some light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for reading.

Wow - I made sure yesterday, that DS2 was fed every 2.5 hours in daytime and he also seemed to need constant evening feeding (last feed at 11pm). He then slept until 3.45am - I feel like a new woman today! After this feed (where he was ravenous!), he slept until 6.45am. So I only had to wake once through the night - fantastic!!!

I'm going to follow the same today, i.e. not letting him feed less than every 2.5 hours and keeping my fingers crossed. We'll probably be up again all night tonight, but I can but hope!

I know its not accepted practice nowadays, but my 11wk old sleeps on her tummy and has done for weeks - it has really helped with the wind, as burps/farts just come out rather causing pain and waking her up. Hope you have another good night tonight !!

My DS also slept on his tummy after someone suggested it and I was desperate. He did sleep better. He was a big strong boy and could lift his head easily from very young and was soon turning over on his own if wished. But he always always sleeps on his tummy even now at 16 months.

But I never mention it on mumsnet for fear of being flamed as it's not best practice due to risk of cot death link. I only tried it as a friend said it helped theirs and of course checked on them constantly until bigger. He slept in my room anyway so I always had him close to me.

I bet loads more mums than would admit it put their DCs to sleep on their tummies. I must admit to propping DD on her side when she had wind issues - got a breathing monitor for peace of mind. Now she's on her back but slightly tilted (on her side meant she tended to leak pee through her nappies!)

I guess that's why babies were originally put on their front - they slept better...

I've tried my 11wo DS on his side (he's also a 2hr waker) but he also always ends up lying in his own wee He does like sleeping on his side though - much less fidgety. Really looking forward to the day I can put him on his front (he sleeps brilliantly on his front when on my chest... I can get 3hrs easy out of him in this position.
