Our room is abut 23 degrees in this weather. Last night I put him in vest, long sleeved nighte and 1 tog gro bag but was worried I was cooking him. Please help!

I'm having the same worries. I used a 1.5 tog bag with just a long sleeve vest underneath. Our room was about 22 degrees. It's hard isn't it, cos i know I was sweltering, but I kept checking her and she seemed Ok with this.

i read somewhere babies should have one more layer than you need. Which helps me work it out.

DD is a hot baby who likes to be naked so I just put in a sleepsuit and a 1tog grobag and she was fine.

Trafficcone · 22/05/2010 13:37

In this weather I'd go for a sleepsuit only but then I loathe gro bags and only give my babies blankets that can be wriggled off if they're hot and are cellular and breathable.

This weather I just used to go for bodysuit and 1 tog sleeping bag.

FrameyMcFrame · 22/05/2010 13:43

my 13 month DS is just in a short sleeved vest, but he co sleeps in the bed with us so it gets warm anyway

SheWillBeLoved · 22/05/2010 14:21

DD is 9 months and sleeping in just a sleepsuit at night, and a short sleeved bodysuit during the day. These house really retains the heat! I have also left a fan on low in the bedroom overnight for the past few nights.

I wouldn't have a clue what to dress a little baby in now I'd probably go with a sleepsuit and sleeping bag though.

Glad I'm not the only one wondering this - DS is nearly 5 months and our bedroom is roasting. He is swaddled in just his nappy, then later in the evening (once I go to bed) I put 2 layers of cellular blankets on him. We sort of co-sleep (I'm on one mattress, he's on another next to me) and the room is 23-24 degrees. In the morning, his tummy has felt pretty cool but his back has been all sweaty, so I can't work out whether to add or remove layers!

FlightofFancy · 23/05/2010 09:15

There's a great table on the grobag website that has temperatures and what to wear - apologies for not linking, have baby on lap so only one hand for typing, but it's in FAQs I think.
My DS is in short sleeve vest and 1 tog grobag at night at the moment, and room is about 24degrees. I throw a thin cotton blanket on top at the 4am feed when it's a bit chilly (though this morning he balled it up and threw it to bottom of cot, so obviously wasn't cold!)

DD was in a vest and light grobag in this weather as a baby. Now she just wears a nappy and a t shirt.

juuule · 23/05/2010 09:38

A vest and swaddle in a light cotton blanket.

debka · 23/05/2010 09:43

angeldog I think he has too many layers, take at least one blanket off him- if he's sweaty he is too hot. My DD at that age and in that weather was just in a babygrow.
