stopping co-sleeping?

I have been co-sleeping with my 8 week old as it was a way we could both get plenty of sleep at night. He was feeding so regularly and for so long and he liked the close contact. He feeds then goes straight to sleep, it's great. I now worry about it though and want to get him in his crib after feeds for several reasons: he gets quite warm and this will get worse in the summer; I think he will get too reliant on me and never sleep on his own; it was never something I planned to do, I just responded to him; I want to get him out the habit before it's too late; I would like to get the bed back for my husband and I.
Any suggestions anyone?

i use a co sleeper cot. So DS 15 weeks is within arms reach but not in bed with me so doesn't get too warm.
he is in a sleeping bag and i scoot him over to feed then bck over into the cot.

Where do you get a co-sleeper cot from Raindrop??

Hi- We cosleep with our 7 month old AND have a co-sleeper. DS still wants in OUR bed, though.

When I can get him in there (usually fast asleep I move him) it is a great idea.

They ain't cheap, but I think they are an excellent idea, especially when they are particularly little.

I also have a bedside cot - though it's a bit bigger than the arms reach one as when I decided to get one, we hadn't yet bought a 'big' cot for when we move DS into his own room. It made the first few months much more bearable in terms of sleep - including the horrific 4mo growth spurt he had! Here it is:

I have put tightly rolled up sheets down the side of the mattress on the side away from the bed to make sure it is right up mega securely against our bed mattress.

Having said that, DS has ended up in our bed anyway as I kept on falling asleep during bfing lying down and forgetting to schooch back . Unfortunatley he is now totally reliant on me as his sleep buddy (6.5mo old). After he is through his current bout of mega-teething & virus (double whammy) we are moving to his own room. Going to be hellish for a bit I think...
