any top tips for co-sleeping?

DS will only go back to sleep in our bed after 4am - leaving me sleeping in some horrible contorted position, literally freezing my tits off and worrying about him smothering himself on the duvet as it comes up the side of me and past his face (he lies on top in his grobag).

Anyone got any top tips for arranging things more comfortably?

Are you both in the bed with him? If so he should sleep on the outside of the bed - not between you. Have the bed up to the wall or use a bed guard, or better still a sidecar cot (I swear by mine).

I used to move my pillow over towards the middle of the bed so it wasn't above their heads. Also didn't pull the duvet up above my waist, so no risk of it covering them. I would wear PJs and a fleece shirt or cardigan to keep my upperhalf warm. A grobag for them is a good idea.

Seriously though, a sidecar crib or cot is fabulous because then they have their own safe space, but are still close by for easy feeding. When they wake for a feed you can pull them in close, shove on a boob, then roll them back once comatose, with minimal fuss or waking.
