2 year old waking 3 to 4 times a night. Desperate

my 2 year old is now waking on average 3 to 4 times a night. Sometimes more often! He wakes looking for a bottle of milk, then goes back to sleep, then he comes in looking to be changed "wet" so get his nappy changed, then will come in again looking for another bottle "bottal" and so it goes on. We are at our wits end. Have tried leaving him, putting him back, but he just started rocking and banging on the side of the cotbed. Our neighbours have heard him and commented so we can't let that go on too long, although when they were away for 4 weeks, we thought we could give him a bit of "tough love", but no improvement. If anything, he got worse since, as previously he was waking only once and now it's 3,4 5 times a night, and the wet nappy is a new development. We both work f/t so are completely sleep deprived at this stage. Hoping someone will have some suggestions!

I've had similiar issues. DS wanted milk until about 20 mths when I stopped it and offered him water or nothing which worked but he then started wandering in to our bedroom wanting to come in to our bed ( anytime from 3am onwards).

I now take him straight back to bed and sit next to his bed until he goes back to sleep. I don't talk to him other than to tell him "it's night time, go to sleep", but just hold his hand. He does complain but will eventually fall asleep (has been known to take up to 2 hours!). We have let him slip back into coming into our bed due to visitors, colds etc but have found this approach helps get us back on track within a couple of nights. I can't do controlled crying etc, so will sit with him. If you do start this, try doing it at the weekend so that you can have a lie in the next day!

I do still occasionally dip into "No Cry Sleep Solution" which offers other tips.

Good luck!

Thanks. Can't face it during the week so roll on the weekend!

Any joy?

I would also suggest blackmail and bribery! I have started to remind DS that he needs to stay in his bed all night and that he'll get a star if he stays put - it has had some success!!!
