HI ,

My 2 and a half year old over the last two weeks has decided that waking at 5 - 5:30 is a good thing.

I wouldnt mind if he sat playing in his room , but he stands at his gate and screams blue murder till one of us gets up .

He goes to bed from 6/7 and has started to refuse to sleep in the day , although blatantly needs a nap.

He has changed childminders last week , she is great and realises when he wants a sleep but will not pressure him as I agree she can not force him to sleep.

He used to sleep to 6 - 6:30 I know its only an hour and I shouldnt be moaning , he has black out blinds and I feel ill because I got used to sleeping till 6:00

What do people think .

i have no ideas for solving this but my 3 year old dd2 is doing the same.when she wants to get up she screams so much i have to get her up cause she shares her room with dd1 who is 9 and i dont want her woken up.it really is a horrible start to the day to be woken so early.

Last night was a bad night ,no sleep for either me or dh as ds decided that he wanted to sleep with us . Fair play he has a crappy cold , but the poor lilman just slept on my hubby and then on me . we are both exhausted.

Do the black out curtains really black out all the light? I have pinned mine all around the window frame as enough light was coming in to be quite distracting. Can't get daylight in in the day now - but the sleep is better!
At his age, you could also try getting the moon clock that turns to a sun at up time. We are using this to great effect with our 3 year old.
