Heat-reflective blackout blinds?

I've been trying to find a blackout blind with a heat-reflective backing but can't find anywhere that sells them. The dcs room faces south-west so is really light in the evening (we just have ordinary curtains) and in summer it's baking hot.

Does anyone have a heat-reflective blackout blind? Or would an ordinary blackout keep the room cool enough?

Thanks for any advice!

We have a blackout thingy(one that suctions on to the window) and it soaks up heat like nobody's business, because it's black I guess. I think if it gets really hot we'll just have to keep the door and window open for cross ventilation.

Thanks. Wonder if a pale coloured blackout might work. Anyone? Cheers.

Last year I bought cream blackout blinds that you attach to velcro all round the frame. Very good at keeping out light and don't seem to absorb heat. Am off to work now but will try and remember where I got them from and post later (someone on here recommended them so maybe they will beat me to it!...)

Be interested to hear about that too. We have cream blackout roller blinds but too much light comes in at the side - like you MorePudding DDs bedroom faces west and gets the last sun of the day and I need a better solution.

Sorry, yesterday ran away with me...

Anyway, here's the link:

Velcro blinds

They are not the cheapest but I was ready to try just about anything rather than get up at 5.20am for another five months! Also because they velcro to the frame, it is a bit of a pain to take them off everyday - we have two windows and just leave one in place all the time and then tuck the other one behind the curtain during the day. They do keep the room warmer in winter too, which is a bonus if you have crap windows.

Great, thanks for that. Looks interesting and might do the trick. Hope so!
