Sleepy after imms...?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 07/04/2010 10:44

My DD (10 weeks, 6 weeks corrected) had her first proper set of imms yesterday morning and has been very sleepy ever since (apart from a one-hour inconsolable crying session). She has been waking up to feed (and feeding reasonably okay)and pretty much sleeping solidly in between.

She had a slightly raised temperature overnight, but not enough to need any dosing and that seems to have settled down now.

Is the extra sleepiness likely to be an effect of the imms? Have other people experienced similar after jabs? Do I need to worry about it? Just want to compare notes for my own peace of mind! Thanks.

Ds2 was like that after his first set of imms. I've always assumed it was caused by the Calpol I had given him just before the jabs were done. But, reading your post, I wonder whether it was the jabs that caused the dopeyness. He was back to his normal self after about 24h, and didn't react at all to his subsequent imms.

My DD was like that after her first two sets of jabs, then perked up again. Third set of imms affected her much worse, she couldn't sleep for more than 10 minutes then woke up screaming.

She's absolutely fine now though, I think temperature is the main thing to keep an eye on

There is a link to immunisation information on the NHS choices website. If I remember correctly it gives details of all sorts of side effects. Perhaps you'd like to have a look at it for reassurance.

Gosh what do you expect? They aren't innocuous, immunisations. She needs time to recover. Tis just a case of watch and wait (and watch and watch). I hope she is fine very soon. Best wishes.

I'm sorry, that seems rude and worrying.

I think it's natural that she would take a little time to recover, that's all I mean. I would be watching and watching though.

Congratulations by the way

Thanks all!

Yes, she seems back to normal now. I thought it was probably a common side-effect, but it's nice to hear others confirm that. I'm in Spain and either due to the language barrier or because they didn't bother, I didn't get any info about what to look out for afterward.

Roll on the next lot...

Same with my DD, (21 weeks now 15 corrected)

Give calpol (2.5 ml) before bed. Gives you peace of mind and helps her.

DD felt so sorry for herself after hers, it really helped.

We've got our third set on Monday.
